Description **Job Description:**

This role provides critical support for risk management of activities and exposures surrounding borrower/counterparty credit risk and various forms of structured finance products executed within the Global Credit & Special Situations unit. Associate will have broad responsibilities for various aspects of risk management related to corporate loans, bonds, various forms of structured credit, and derivatives including:

• Participation in transaction screening and approval / monitoring / risk management of numerous complex structured credit transactions populated with a diverse range of corporate loans/securities and other asset classes

• Oversight of credit risks arising from trading activity including CDS, rates, asset swaps, complex portfolio wraps, and fixed income trading

• Participation in review / negotiation of deal structures and transaction legal documentation

• Due diligence of third party asset/investment managers (including underwriting and servicing), as part of an assessment of structured credit trades

• Production of regular and ad hoc risk reporting, and regular review of ongoing individual trade/portfolio surveillance data related to structured credit and derivative exposure, with a focus on risk migration and mitigation strategies

• Communication with senior business and risk management personnel, including participating in development / implementation / production of critical reporting and credit systems capabilities

• In coordination with the respective business units and senior risk management, establishing and maintaining various credit policy and limit frameworks, including underwriting and portfolio guidelines

Additional responsibilities include:

• Produce reporting for portfolio of SPEs with derivative exposure (CLNs, ABS/CDOs, etc), and corresponding annual review credit write-ups

• Assistance in working with credit review, audit, finance, and other support partners internally as well as with external regulators

Candidate will have significant exposure to Global Markets personnel including Trading, Structuring and Sales as well as various support partners including Legal, Middle Office, Finance, Operations, Market Risk, Compliance, Accounting Policy, and Tax. Candidate must be comfortable working on transactions in a capital markets/trading environment with minimal direction.

Required Job Skills:

• 3+ years of experience in credit risk management, structuring and/or origination roles

• Ability to manage significant deal volume, reporting requirements, monitoring requirements, etc. in a fast-paced environment

• Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of risk, support and business partners

• Proficiency with Bloomberg, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, along with ability to quickly learn new programs/applications as needed

• Basic understanding of derivative and/or lending products and associated documentation

• High level of attention to detail

• Willingness/desire to improve and/or streamline processes (notably around risk reporting)

Desired Job Skills:

• Background in origination, structuring, trading, asset management or credit risk management of structured/securitized products and/or large corporate credit products

• Exposure to the implementation of risk mitigation strategies on problem loans, portfolios and/or structured vehicles

• Candidate should exhibit strong personal drive, an ability to demonstrate individual initiative, a sense of urgency, responsiveness, and a desire to grow, learn and take on increasing levels of responsibility

• Formal bank credit training or equivalent strongly preferred

• Progress toward (or completion of) MBA, CFA or equivalent education
