Platform Engineering Manager

What You'll do:

Cisco Managed Services is seeking a Platform Engineering Manager to support a global team that provides service availability of our network and systems management platform. In this role, you will be responsible for the support of a world class monitoring platform that supports IT operations for network, collaboration, data center, and security operations. This service provides proactive management, monitoring and optimization of the infrastructure and processes to reduce costly inefficiencies maximize system availability and improve security and compliance. You will work with delivery teams within Customer Experience and partners to provide services.

The ideal candidate demonstrates knowledge of Cisco processes and team dynamics across the organization, and possesses superior coaching and motivational skills required to engage, develop, and retain top talent on a high-performance team. You have prior experience in technology support operations and are passionate about growing leadership opportunities.

You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to be the active voice leading technical and business direction during incidents of major impact. You can lead a large globally diverse team to ensure the right authorities are engaged to resolving issues.

A technical background is strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities:

In this highly-visible role as a Platform engineering manager, you will:

  • Perform workload management among team members, including implementation of innovative ticket/case management techniques
  • Provide management guidance to all levels of employees on accomplishing goals
  • Develop and drive strategic initiatives for the global platform engineering & support teams
  • Interface regularly with Engineering, Delivery, Architecture teams etc. on regular basis for knowledge upgrade and feedback sharing
  • Handle critical issues for the support platform and service delivery
  • Provide strategic input to Product Management teams responsible for the development and support of our network management platform.
  • Initiate and lead major multi-functional projects affecting Ciscos business, products, and services

Experience / Technical Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in service support
  • Experience in ITIL-aligned customer support processes
  • Understanding of Network Management Systems
  • Linux
  • MySQL and/or other database architectures
  • Working knowledge of Cisco technologies
  • BS or MS degree required
  • CCIE, or equivalent advanced certification strongly desired
  • PMP Certification a plus
