How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

This role will be part of the VA Model Conversion and Special Projects Team. The team will support various projects and will be primarily focused on driving and supporting the Actuarial Valuation data, model, and reporting systems conversion of the Variable Annuity (VA), Structured Index Annuity (SIA), and Fixed Indexed Annuity (FIA) products. T his project will allow Brighthouse to greatly reduce dependencies on outside sources for Valuation systems and is an essential initiative for the company. This role will be involved in various aspects of this project and have the opportunity to make a strong contribution to this important initiative.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for driving particular streams within the end-to-end conversion of our annuity products (VA, SIA, FIA) from current data, actuarial modeling, and reporting systems to planned future state
  • Develop end-to-end understanding of current and future actuarial valuation processes
  • Responsible for designing, testing, and validating annuity data conversion, conversion of actuarial valuation model to Prophet, and post-model reporting
  • Maintain documentation of testing results, future state processes, and other changes and updates
  • Collaborate and maintain relationships with various teams including annuity valuation, annuity modeling, annuity product, VA ALM, IT
  • Support and drive emerging projects such as data system conversions and updating of processes and models for regulatory and accounting changes
  • Manage team of 2-3 employees, fostering a culture of continuous feedback and improvement

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation required; FSA designation advantageous
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience in an insurance company or consulting
  • 3+ years' experience working with deferred annuities
  • Experience with Prophet or other actuarial modeling software
  • Significant annuity product knowledge
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to work with others in a team environment
