ADN Retention Specialist - North Campus

Essential Job Functions:
  • Works with nursing students of various cultures experiencing academic challenges.
  • Prescribes specific, appropriate and justified learning strategies.
  • Plans and implements data driven remediation/tutoring programs through a coordinated team effort which includes faculty, students, and other staff.
  • Blends qualitative and quantitative data into an efficient gathering, reporting and analysis process.
  • Administers, analyzes, and interprets tests measuring aptitude learning styles and stress levels.
  • Tutors and mentors students in time management, organization, study skills and stress management through workshops.
  • Coordinates learning individually and in small groups.
  • Participates in cross-campus communication and engagement with faculty/staff/students.
  • Maintains/exceeds high professional standards, state-mandated guidelines, requirements of business/industry and higher education.
  • Participates in college related activities such as community outreach, recruitment and student retention.

Additional Job Functions:
  • Collaborates with department chair in new student selection for admissions periods.
  • Participates in college / committee meetings, task force and councils.
  • Participates in business and community activities that foster goodwill between the college and community.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of quantitative analyses and analytical skills
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive learning commitment

Required Education:
  • Master's degree or higher required in education/counseling/nursing/allied health or related field.

Required Experience:
  • Tutoring and mentoring students in areas of time management, organization, study skills and stress management
  • Previous experience as a learning/remediation/study skills specialist or equivalent

Preferred Experience:
  • Coaching/remediating nursing students
  • Promoting success with nursing students

Preferred Licenses/Certifications:
  • LPC, RN, or other allied health license/certification

Note: The duties of this position require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location during unrestricted operations with very limited or no opportunity for remote work arrangements.

Salary Grade: 27

Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
