Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Analyst Assortment Planning will provide subject matter expertise, project management, and analytical support to merchandising decisions made by key business stakeholders to include Merchants and other organization-wide leaders. This position is responsible for executing analytical projects and the ideal candidate should possess a strong ability to analyze and make recommendations on assortment and merchandising strategy.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

70% Work in collaboration with Merchants and/or cross-functional leaders to determine engagement goals and objectives, conduct analysis to identify key drivers of performance, and recommend assortment and merchandising decisions that will improve performance. Typical analysis will include: (a) metric level exceptions including in-stock rates, sales growth trends, and CAGR and vitality deep dives, (b) line structure and price point progression(c) productivity and profitability analysis, (d) identifying key product attributes and (e) market level performance. Develop presentations that summarize analysis including historical category performance, strategic rationale underpinning merchandising decisions and expected financial impact. Report out to all levels of management. Accountable for accuracy, thoroughness, thought process, timeliness and viability of recommendations.

30% Leverage Tableau, cloud-based solutions and other business applications to build and refine analytics. Work in partnership with internal and external teams.


NATURE AND SCOPE
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Assortment Planning – Pro Merchandising Strategy, Process & Tools.

This position has no direct responsibility for supervising others.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelors degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 1-2 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Additional Qualifications:
Strong analytical and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in merchandising, planning and/or analysis Prior experience with Tableau
  • Prior experience with SQL
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills including demonstrated aptitude with financial analysis and ability to generate insight from large and complex data sets
  • Strong project management skills and ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously

  • Ability to partner with cross-functional teams at all levels across a complex organization
  • Ability to get results despite a large workload, competing demands and working in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple demands, adjust to change quickly and work constructively under pressure
