This role is responsible for analyzing primary and secondary research data to demonstrate value for Cox Media portfolio and takes initiative to find growth opportunities and recommend solutions based on findings. In this role, the individual will report to the Manager, Client & Vertical Insights and work with marketing analysts, sales leaders and sellers across the organization to deliver data-based insights that grow share and new business for the organization.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Provides high-touch research support to all sales channels for developing customized solutions and presentations geared towards securing business from all client types, including high spend/high potential clients.
- Proactively collaborates with and provides all sales channels with competitive information, research data, and related market information to build and execute on sales and marketing strategies
- Leverage skills in data acquisition, analysis, visualization and storytelling to provide clear reporting, insights and recommendations that influence sales and marketing strategies
- Key point-of-contact for field Marketing Analysts; spends significant time in the filed supporting their needs
- Customizes research-based tools to provide reports that enable Sales to drive revenue, including partnering with Manager to maintain systems and tools with updated, accurate data sets
- In partnership with CMI staff, develops and can be tapped to deliver research-based training for Sales, Sales Services and new hire orientation (e.g., building effective schedules, using research databases, client and vertical insights, etc.).
- Proactively collaborates with marketing to perform deep dive analysis into customer segments and identify market opportunities.
- Assists with the tactical maintenance and upkeep of Cox Medias Segmentation Model.
- Represent Cox Media on industry media research-related committees and project teams.
- Conducts desk research on client attitudes and preferences, including product, brand, and competitor attributes, by segment or vertical.
- Provides and conducts analysis of marketing and business data to tell a story, crafting insights to formulate strategies to improve adoption, engagement and retention.
- Develops relationships, helps drive strategy, measurement methodologies, and is viewed as an Analytic SME
- Extract, cleanse, transform and prepare large volumes of data from multiple, disconnected sources for analysis.
- Writes reports, creates visualizations and presentations in support of department strategies.
- Identifies, researches, and resolves discrepancies in data, analytical procedure or cross-functional methods.
- Go-to support for filtering requests to the appropriate group of team within the context of the Research Agenda.
Qualifications: Minimum

- 5 or more years of experience required in related field Research, Data Collection, Data Analytics/Interpretation
- 3 or more years of experience required if candidate possesses a related advanced degree
- Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, statistical analysis software (i.e., SPSS, SAS, R, etc.) and data visualization software (i.e., Tableau).
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with presentation capabilities
- Demonstrated experience using analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to create high-quality deliverables and represent concepts through presentations/ models/visuals
- BA/BS in Marketing, Business, Statistics, Research, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in advertising industry, and in working directly with sales
- 4+ years of experience researching and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data in a related field
- 4+ years of experience in data mining, working with large data sets, and recommending innovative analytical solutions
