Your Role and Responsibilities
As the Architect of the project you will translate the Offering Managers vision of the product to a technical design capable of meeting that vision from the requirements to the eventual installation of the product at the customer site.

The Architect will be part of the core leadership team for the project and will be sought for technical guidance and mentor the development team in their activities.

Under minimal supervision, the successful candidate will report to the Development Lead for the project and liaise with the other members of the leadership team: program management, offering management, regulatory, quality and the customer.

Additional responsibilities include providing technical documents in support of the project as well as ensure adherence to technical standards. Also maintain awareness of the general trends within the software industry to assess when new technologies would be beneficial to the product.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for overall product architecture and design
  • Sets the overall technical framework for the product and monitors activity to ensure conformance with that framework
  • Considers the business goals and constraints associated with the recommended product design
  • Technical assessment of requests including SOUP (Software of Unknown Pedigree) within the product
  • Product development in accordance with Watson Health Imagings methodology and practices
  • Software module requirement analysis, design, and test design
  • Prepare software module specifications, designs, test descriptions and estimates
  • Investigate new technologies and provide training to team members as required
  • Implement software modules and unit tests and conduct appropriate module testing
  • Detect, report, investigate and fix product defects
  • Assist with escalated customer support investigations
  • Establish guidelines for and participate in the review of product engineering artifacts (e.g., specifications, designs, test descriptions, implementations, tests, records, reports, etc)
  • Assist in the preparation and review of product, engineering, and management plans and reports (e.g., program and project plans) as required
  • Prepare technical reports as required
  • Under minimal direction, prepare updates to system specifications, designs, test descriptions, hazard analysis, validation test procedures, and related documentation supporting software development to known standards
  • Mentor junior team members and peer review product artifacts including requirement specifications, design specifications, code, etc.
  • Interface with customer and Watson Health Imaging staff to gather product requirements, present technical aspects of the product, and understand problems with the product
  • Work effectively in collaboration with other members of the department, or with managers and staff across the organization with whom tasks must be completed
  • Participate in Watson Health Imaging's performance review process, including actively setting product and personal development goals and performing self-assessments
  • Pursue a program of self-development through the use of selected reading, seminars, and participation in continuing education
  • Identify and communicate possible improvements in the work process for customers and peers
  • Team player and can adapt to fast paced environment
  • Ability to understand the end to end system workflow from multiple stakeholders perspective



Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience architecting, designing and building systems
  • Experience with technologies such as C# / ASP.NET, Typescript, AngularJS, NodeJS JavaScript, HTML 5
  • Flexibility to work in an Agile development model
  • Knowledge, skills, training and experience in software requirements and design engineering skills using a well-defined disciplined engineering process or methodology
  • Co-ordinate and mentor team members/demonstrated ability to provide leadership to the team
  • Experience in Microsoft Windows and/or Linux software engineering environments
  • Experience with software configuration, build management and issue tracking tools such as Subversion, Jenkins and JIRA.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience with customer interaction;
  • Experience with DICOM is an asset



Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 10+ years of related experience in software development with at least 7 years of direct experience in an architecture role.
  • Unit testing and code coverage tools
  • Experience in technologies such as Karma, Jasmie, NUnit, OpenCover
  • Must possess skills and experience with SQL based database systems such MS SQL Server, Oracle and / or DB2.
  • Experience in Healthcare Information Systems, Electronic Medical Records, Practice Management, HL7, 837/835
  • Design pattern experience a plus
  • Knowledge of web development technologies
