The Department of Occupational Therapy at Eastern Washington University (Spokane campus) invites applicant candidates for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track faculty position. We are looking for individuals with experience working in geriatrics, mental health settings, or health and wellness. Current program emphasis is in rural practice.

This tenure-track position is for an assistant professor but associate professor rank may be negotiated dependent on qualifications. The successful applicant will have clinical expertise in one of the areas listed above and be expected to teach in one or more of these areas as well as several first year courses. The applicant will be expected to engage in scholarly activities, supervise MOT research or capstone projects, and engage in professional, university and departmental service.

The Department of Occupational Therapy at Eastern Washington University is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Occupational Therapy Education. We are situated within the new College of Health Sciences and Public Health (CHSPH) and operate in a new and well-equipped campus in the University District near downtown Spokane, Washington. The college includes five other health science programs: Physical Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Public Health, Dental Hygiene, Health Sciences Administration and pre-Nursing. Our campus is inter-collegiate and includes medical, nursing, pharmacy, and dentistry programs. CHSPH has well established community partnerships and a commitment to serving rural and under-represented populations. The Department works with school districts, an agency offering services to children with autism, a drop-in center for homeless women, a veteran's maker space, a parasports program, a day program for adults with developmental disabilities, a variety of mental health and substance abuse treatment programs, as well as with local hospitals, clinics, and private practices. We look forward to developing additional opportunities for community-engaged scholarship.

Spokane is located in the scenic Pacific Northwest close to the Rocky Mountains. Opportunities abound for outdoor recreation both within the city and close by - you'll find many great places for skiing, hiking, biking and boating. The cost of living is reasonable, and the pace of life relaxed. Spokane is a medical hub for the Inland Northwest region.

Conditions of Employment

If the selected candidate is hired within the rank of Associate Professor, the candidate must go up for tenure in his/her third year.
