Position Description

This position is responsible for the overall management of the Medicare and Medicaid business relationships as well as leading a team of Account Managers that handle the benefit administration. The Associate Director is accountable for the growth, increased profitability of existing business, net promoter score, escalation management and supporting departmental goals. This position reports to the Director of Client Services.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain executive level client relationships with M&R and C&S leaders to ensure ongoing success
  • Assist in the development, delivery and oversight of the client’s performance including renewal planning, product builds, and supporting operations
  • Collaborate with client and internal functional areas to drive client/member/provider satisfaction
  • Work in a project management capacity on global projects and process improvement initiatives within the team
  • Translate problems/issues with vendor’s operations that are identified internally and engage the appropriate stakeholders to help identify impact and potential solutions
  • Identify and work within cross-functional teams to resolve technical, operational and organizational problems
  • Work with the compliance team to understand the established state and federal regulatory compliance standards/requirements and ensure the vendor is working towards compliance
  • Partner with legal to coordinate contract renewals and negotiations/amendments
  • Conduct business reviews to discuss results as well as strategies and tactics to drive growth, membership retention, clinical initiatives and utilization measures
  • Work with Business Development, Account Management, and Implementations/Operations teams support installation and implementations

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ years of experience in employee benefits, healthcare (provider or hospital), pharmaceutical or dental

  • 5+ years of experience managing people 

  • 5+ years of experience in business planning and financial/underwriting acumen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills (internal/external)

  • Solid influence, collaboration and listening skills

  • Proven ability to navigate an often ambiguous and complex organization to resolve customer issues

  • Solid negotiation and leadership skills

  • Ability to create a strategic vision and plan its implementation

  • Strong team player

  • Superior verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Customer-focused; able to work with C-suite, consumers, brokers and providers
