We are looking for an experienced consumer focused and data-driven content strategist with 5+ years experience developing and leading enterprise content strategies across omni-channel experiences.

This role develops content strategies and leads the development of content to create awareness, engage the target audience, and support clinical health actions which ultimately drives value for the consumer, our clients and business.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience developing content strategies and marketing engagement plans to support digital experiences (websites, landing pages, and content marketing plans). This strategic content role will work closely with senior leaders in product, creative, marketing and advanced analytic teams.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop a long-term and integrated vision for an omni-channel content strategy for multiple businesses
  • Influence and lead cohesive content strategies and cross-product promotions for an integrated health care experience in collaboration with copywriters, design and digital partners
  • Develop and execute content marketing and engagement plans for digital experiences that improve outcomes and inspire behavior change for members facing health concerns-from prevention to complex disease states
  • Support copywriters and creative teams with developing the right content and measuring key metrics to continue optimizing and refreshing content
  • Participate on cross-functional project teams, serving a Senior Content Strategist to ensure that content meets objectives and expectations and is streamlined and consistent across multiple business and product areas
  • Focused on continually innovating the process, the ideas and the strategies to better support Optum's communications objectives and content strategy
  • Establish brand publisher mindset: to create unique content our audience is looking for to optimize the path to conversion
  • Manage and develop content marketing and engagement plans to bring awareness to digital content and motivate members to engage in their health
  • Serve as the content strategist to inform content categorization and structure of website content, and focus on continued measurement and usability of content organization
  • Establish closed-loop analytics to understand how our inbound marketing activity turns members into engaged consumers as well as understand where members are falling off
  • Develop measurement and optimization plans for the content we develop or license
  • Partner with campaign operations and external partners to distribute content in relevant channels

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing/Advertising, Journalism, Communications, Technical Communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years consumer content marketing or content strategy experience
  • Proven track record of successful work within an internal creative services team or agency
  • Extensive understanding of all writing disciplines, including conceptual and executional
  • Strong portfolio of impactful modern content pieces
  • Standout idea generator and problem solver with excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to understand consumer insights and distill it into compelling and clear messaging to engage consumers
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use data to inform all decisions
  • Experience developing content in an agile development environment
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables effectively
  • Skilled at influencing and collaborating with others
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting, however, may be required to work from home temporarily due to space limitations
  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with a variety of content management tools, web analytics software and keyword tools
  • Consumer focused writing expertise or clinical writing
  • Experience writing in a UX environment, developing structured and intelligent content pieces
  • Demonstrated understanding of web layout and usability guidelines, as well as practical applications of SEO/SEM strategies as it relates to content
