Clinical Performance is charged with effectively implementing, monitoring, and executing on programs related to driving affordability, clinical quality and risk adjustment activities across all lines of business for OptumCare a ~$9 billion a year organization, touching over 9 million patients, 80 payers, and 22,000 providers.


This position will report into the Director of Content, Documentation, & Governance and will be responsible for overseeing the Clinical Documentation & Accuracy Governance framework of rules and practices to ensure accountability, fairness, and transparency in Clinical Performance's relationship with its stakeholders. The framework includes distribution of rights, responsibilities, policies and procedures, proper supervision, control and information flow.  Stakeholders may include Optum Care Organizations, Governance Steering Committee, Legal, Compliance, Privacy,  Human Capital, and Compensation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure staff is supported and set up for success
  • Drive continuous process improvement across risk governance to ensure delivery
  • Facilitate weekly touch points with leader to provide updates and identify risks and opportunities
  • Own goverance intake & process to timely and accurately identify escalations, and communications at both the executive leadership and operator level
  • Monitor governance deliverables, annual review processes, managr staff and resolvr priority conflicts
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and experience working with matrixed teams
  • Maintain and update the governance framework
  • Monitor compliance with requirements in framework
  • Coordinate Governance Committee and Steering Committee meetings
  • Monitor risk adjustment business processes
  • Establish and maintain a record of operational procedures manuals
  • Facilitate the flow of information
  • Provide key information to managers, board members and committees
  • Liaising with board members and fulfilling their requests for information may also play a large role

  • Ability to effective lead, manage and deliver in a fast paced, ever changing environment
  • Extremely creative at solving complex problems with strong analytical ability to recommend solutions
  • Strong reporting process management, team management and leadership experience in a large, complex healthcare setting
  • Working in a matrix environment to drive efficiencies through influence
  • Taking ownership of processes and providing constructive information to minimize problems and increase market satisfaction
  • Ablity to manage multiple initiatives by prioritizing goals and objectives
  • Maintaining confidentiality, being a detail-oriented, organized, critical thinker, and strong analytical skills
  • Furthermore, this position is required to work with a variety of people from executives to board members to external parties. As such, it is important to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to forge and maintain relationships.
