Job Title: Associate Manager

Duties: Provide platform leadership for the Foods R&D organization focused on unlocking transformative growth opportunities for PepsiCo for short term to long term programs that span front-end ideation, feasibility assessments, product development and commercialization. Coordinate Technical Platforms, which are segmented by Brands, manufacturing technology or category, with End-to-End planning across the Foods category of R&D organization to successfully develop product portfolios with the multi-market application and consumer salience. Work with R&D and business partners to scope out the portfolio, including identification of opportunities for acceleration, synergy and resource efficiency. Co-create multiple cross-functional project plans incorporating inputs from the subject matter and functional experts to deliver a cohesive approach across all R&D requirements (packaging, process, product, regulatory, nutrition science, quality and food safety) to successfully deliver global innovations with set global protocols and stewardship standards for technical platforms, which are segmented by Brands, manufacturing technology or category. Collaborate across Global R&D to define the scope, project goals, success criteria, and resulting project plans demonstrating the ability to manage complexity and risks. Collaborate on cross-disciplinary project plans as the R&D point person for projects, working with marketing, insights, and commercial teams. Serve as the communication conduit between R&D, cross-functional and business stakeholders to drive program results. Lead executive project reviews and identify cross-functional collaboration opportunities for the platform across multiple projects and initiatives.

Qualifications/Requirements

Job Requirements: Masters degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Food Science or related and four (4) years of experience in a food scientist product development role OR Bachelor's degree (the U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Food Science or related and six (6) years of experience in a food scientist product development role. Must have four (4) years of experience with sensory and consumer product research using focus groups, consumer co-create sessions, benchtop prototyping, descriptive panels, product guidance tests and home use tests; an end to end new product innovation from hopper ideation, feasibility assessment, development, scale-up, commercialization through launch and learn; project management, including technical stage gate to effectively manage timelines, ingredient costs of goods, and overall project risk assessments; Food Safety and Quality principles including food microbiology testing requirements, product stability design and testing, product/packaging interaction, food allergens, and food safety hazard assessments as related to FSMA requirements (or global equivalent); and communicating project updates and technical data with the appropriate level of detail tailored to different audiences in both written and oral formats. Must have three (3) years of experience collaborating and leading across Marketing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Product Development, Sensory, Packaging, Regulatory, Food Safety and Thermal Process Authority subject matter experts within a matrixed Global team. Must have two (2) years of experience leading multiple, complex projects ranging from new product development and productivity to business continuity initiatives with creative thinking and new approaches. Must have product development experience with grain snacks and baked goods. The position requires travel 10% of the time.
