As part of the Corporate Controllers Department and the CFO Organization of PFI, the Finance Shared Services (FSS) organization is responsible for the controllership activities in support of the U.S. business units including the International activities performed domestically.  

 

The Financial Accounting & Analysis (FSS A&A) team supports monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP and Statutory close processes, including journal processing, reconciliations, and analysis of balance sheet and income statement drivers. The team partners with Business Unit Finance areas as well as actuarial and other corporate areas. The Insurance Consolidation team manages the accounting and analysis activity for the various Corporate and Other (C&O) and Asset Liability Management (ALM) investment subsidiaries, helps to drive certain functional responsibilities across the Insurance businesses, and drives standardization and efficiencies through best practices.

 

This individual will have some oversight and management responsibilities for a small offshore team to ensure that all daily responsibilities are completed. Individuals at this level typically have some understanding of the firms different businesses and related economics as well as some industry experience and/or subject area expertise in one or more specific skill sets, business areas, or products. 

 

The responsibilities of this position will include: 

 

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of general ledger close responsibilities by staff, including review and approval of journal entries and reconciliations

  • Prepare specific balance sheet and income statement driver analyses and reconciliations

  • Serve as point person to the ALM Finance group for investment subsidiary related close consolidated activities and new initiatives

  • Drive synergies between C&O and ALM processes within the team and pursue additional alignment opportunities across the broader FSS A&A team

  • Have a working knowledge of the GAAP and STAT accounting policies that apply to their respective responsibilities.  May require partnering with the Accounting Policy team and BU partners as well as reviewing key policy documentation found in the Accounting Policy database, NAIC APP Manual, FASB guidelines, etc.

  • Support project initiatives as assigned

  • Coach and assist with the development of the offshore team

  • Champion FSS values and process design principles with team and business partners

  • Support quarterly/annual internal and external audits

  • Ensure adequacy of internal controls over financial reporting and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, EUCs and Model Audit Rule requirements

 

 



Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Graduate degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA a plus)

  • 4 - 6 years of financial reporting and analysis experience

  • Knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles

  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities under challenging time frames

  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong collaborative and partnering skills

  • Highly motivated, proactive, detail oriented

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills

  • Investment and/or Insurance experience a plus

  • Experience with Prudential Financial systems a plus (Oracle, Oracle BI, Essbase/Smartview, & other financial statement applications)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work overtime during peak periods
