In a typical branch office, a financial advisor meets with clients and receives branch office support, so they can focus on building deep relationships with clients. Headquarters associates in St. Louis, Tempe and Mississauga provide support and expertise to help U.S. and Canada branch teams deliver an ideal client experience. We continue to grow to meet the needs of long-term individual investors.
Our Field HR Generalist team is responsible for addressing all associate relations issues in a fair and equitable manner for our branch teams located across Canada. This position is responsible for ensuring that all federal and provincial employment laws, local employment ordinances and firm policies are adhered to while:
* Working with branch and region leadership to diagnose and resolve a variety of issues surrounding team dynamics in the Edward Jones branch office.
* Being a Case Resolution specialist responsible for conducting confidential investigations into often complex and highly sensitive associate relations issues such as harassment, workplace violence and other violations of firm policies and provincial laws to protect the interests of the firm and its associates.
* Acting as liaison for/with internal centers of excellence (Leaves of Absence, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, HR Records, Benefits and Leaves, Payroll, HR Help, Offices in Transition) and with division/business and field leaders.
* Evaluating current trends and patterns of behavior to diagnose individual, regional, firm-wide needs. Recommending and implementing measures to mitigate performance and behavioral concerns.
* Being responsible for the consistent and day-to-day administration and communication of human resources policies, procedures and business practices.
* Working in partnership with the Canada HR Leader and legal counsel to propose and administer disciplinary actions and/or terminations of associates as a result of their investigation into allegations; implementing the actions taken by the firm; and alerting the business areas impacted by these decisions (i.e., regional leadership, Legal, Branch and Region Development, Financial Advisor Training, Compliance Resolution, Field Supervision, Branch Audit, BOA Talent Acquisition, BOA Training and Performance, IS Security, HR Benefits, etc.).
* Coaching, guiding and counseling associates on employment issues, helping them to understand their role, and providing guidance on personal and professional growth. Creating written correspondence in support of the firm's progressive disciplinary process and documenting associate situations in a legally appropriate manner. Working with firm associates to provide support and assistance during times of personal challenge. May be responsible for training and mentoring other HR Generalists.
* Post-secondary degree/diploma with 7 or more years related HR experience, particularly in employee relations.
* HR certification strongly preferred.
* Demonstrated experience in conducting formal and informal investigations and mediating interpersonal conflict.
* Business acumen with analytical and critical thinking skills.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal business partners. Demonstrated success in influencing and coaching.
* Must have working knowledge and demonstrated capability in Human Resources functions and practices (e.g. employee/associate relations, performance management, training, recruiting, associate engagement and retention, employment law, change leadership, coaching and communications.)
* Excellent written and oral communication skills and must be able to communicate complex issues across all levels of organization and division.
* Additional language skills (Mandarin, Cantonese, or French) preferred but not required.
