The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Trust is seeking a Program and Operations Manager to join our team headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, a northwest suburb of Chicago.  The AVMA Trust provides professional liability insurance, life and disability coverage, financial services, as well as other important benefits to the 95,000+ members of the AVMA.  Structured to work for its members, AVMA acts as a collective voice for its membership and for the veterinary profession.  AVMA's mission is to lead the profession by advocating for our members and advancing the science and practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal and human health.

Reporting to the Trust's Member Experience Officer and in collaboration with the Trust staff, this newly created position is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day administration of Trust activities. Quality assurance for all member-related aspects of the Trust operation including serving as a liaison for AVMA members regarding products/coverage offered, and the delivery and availability of coverage to members. As part of the quality assurance role, this position shall coordinate activities with business partners and service providers to enhance the Trust's customer service experience and product delivery to AVMA members and veterinary students.  Less than 25% travel.

To be successful in this role, you must be highly organized, collaborative and passionate about the Trust's growth strategy and mission of serving and the veterinary profession.  Additional qualifications include:

  • BS/BA degree with a major concentration in business, marketing, Human Resources or related field is required
  • 5-10 years of professional and health insurance industry experience, association and operational experience a plus
  • Skilled and experienced at effectively managing projects in a creative environment
  • Familiarity with insurance products offered through associations with the ability to read and understand insurance policies and provisions
  • Familiarity working with insurance agents
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the veterinary community regarding their time constraints and understanding the complexity of insurance issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required with the demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of individuals
  • Understands the relationship between association members and insurance programs with the ability to interpret carrier experience reports
  • Ability to work well with Brokers/TPA's and Insurance Carriers
  • Strong writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability bring creative ideas to fruition through writing and project development
  • Motivated self-starter, able to work well both independently and as a team member
  • Experienced in development and execution of direct marketing, advertising or branding campaigns
  • Strong orientation toward service to others
  • Good organizational and coordination skills
  • Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong collaborative skills a must
