Job Description

Trees Atlanta is looking for a qualified and motivated administrator to lead our BeltLine Arboretum program and its team. Trees Atlantas BeltLine Arboretum is an integral component of the Atlanta BeltLine, which is the most comprehensive transportation and economic development effort ever undertaken in the City of Atlanta. The BeltLine Arboretum Manager will play an instrumental role in the implementation and ongoing care of current and future BeltLine trail segments. This position will give you the chance to build and sustain an innovative public garden that functions as urban infrastructure, outdoor classroom, and conservation habitat.


  • Create, build and manage Arboretum collections in collaboration with other departments

  • Identify and establish partnerships (e.g. Georgia Audubon, Southern Company Gas) to collaborate on creative projects

  • Hire and manage BeltLine program full-time staff (currently two supervisors and one coordinator) and seasonal interns (Arboretum Fellow and Prairie Management Intern)

  • Hire, oversee, and advise contractors on landscape installation and maintenance projects

  • Represent Trees Atlanta at meetings and presentations in the community and with Atlanta Beltline Inc

  • Create agendas for periodic meetings with BeltLine and Trees Atlanta staff (monthly and biweekly)

  • Develop annual work plan and program budget, in conjunction with the Urban Forestry Director

  • Provide project budget estimates, in cooperation with the Urban Forestry Director

  • Create work order proposals for Atlanta BeltLine Inc

  • Source and secure plant material, hardscape material, tools and equipment, and other project inputs

  • Conduct field site assessments of ongoing work and maintenance

  • Assist BeltLine crew supervisors on biweekly property owners inspection process

  • Work with Education, Outreach and Marketing Departments to create programing to advance Arboretum goals, including workshops, signage, labels and collections data



  • A minimum of 3 years of landscape or horticulture experience (Bachelors Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, Forestry or related field helpful but not required)

  • Understanding of ecology, urban forestry, and native plant communities

  • At least 1-2 years demonstrated experience in project management and implementation

  • At least 1-2 years demonstrated experience management experience (staff or volunteers) required

  • A valid drivers license with a clean driving record (must have been licensed at least 3 years)

  • Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects



  • This position is subject to a 90-day probationary period prior to benefits being active. Trees Atlanta offers the following:
