Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Lawyer Development Business Data Analyst in the Global Operations &Innovation Center (GOIC) in Wheeling, WV.

Our GOIC in Wheeling, West Virginia, is home to more than 300 members. Established more than a decade ago, it was the first centralized administrative operation in a major law firm. Our GOIC location is within commuting distance of the greater Pittsburgh area and Ohio Valley, including: Pittsburgh, Carnegie, Moon, Robinson, Cranberry, Green Tree, Mt. Lebanon, Bethel Park, Southpointe, Bridgeville, McKees Rocks, Upper St. Clair, McMurray, Canonsburg and Washington; St. Clairsville, New Martinsville, Cambridge and the Weirton-Steubenville metro area.

What responsibilities will you have? As a Lawyer Development Analyst, you will work with the Manager of Business Analytics to produce reports, analyses, and presentations for attorney talent management initiatives including, but not limited to: staffing, recruiting, performance management, promotion and advancement, compensation, diversity and inclusion, and trade publications. Assist with administration of other professional development initiatives as requested.

  • Manage Lawyer Developments MS Access database and help to ensure integration with viDesktop, CarpeDiem, PeopleSoft, and other software. Produce relational reports incorporating data from all. Serve as subject matter expert as the firm looks to transition out of MS Access to new reporting platform.
  • Analyze and report on all data and information for attorney talent management initiatives including staffing, recruiting, performance management, promotion and advancement, utilization, diversity, agile working arrangements, and other data.

  • Create client-focused, user friendly presentations to highlight challenges and opportunities and facilitate decision making.

  • Lead preparation activities for annual partner admission cycle including, but not limited to, gathering management reporting, preparing various schedules and analyses, and administering the overall process.

  • Assist with the annual associate and of counsel compensation process and annual of counsel promotion process, including budget forecasts, bonus modeling, and practice group coordination. Report on the annual associate compensation process results.

  • Liaison to Finance, Payroll, and PeopleSoft teams.

  • Prepare data and reporting required to execute and analyze the non-partner attorney performance evaluation process.

  • Gather and analyze data in preparation of attorney salary surveys, NALP survey, and other ad hoc survey and reporting requests.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 5 years working in a related position or relevant educational qualification, and proven:

  • Advanced Excel skills and Microsoft Access database expertise; PowerBI experience a plus. Ability to manage, analyze and report on data. Ability to use technology to automate and improve manual processes.

  • Ability to adhere to the highest level of accuracy.

  • Ability to balance competing needs and prioritize tasks.

  • Creative thinking and problem solving.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong analytical skills.
