**Summary:**



The Business and Governance Control Manager will have a broad range of responsibilities supporting the COO and Governance Management leadership team. He/she will work closely with leaders across both Merrill Lynch Wealth Management (MLWM) and Global Wealth Investment Management (GWIM) to manage projects as well as the portfolio of audit and regulatory issues. Responsibilities will also include driving strategic business initiatives, regulatory response and overall risk management. The position requires the individual to build, collaborate, and maintain relationships across GWIM and Merrill Edge organizations including control partners.



**Key Responsibilities:**



+ Manage activities within MLWM, as well as broader GWIM, related to identifying and minimizing risk – operating with the risk framework (responsible growth mindset)

+ Ensure transparency and understanding of operating issues, risks, and opportunities, including the sound governance, administration and oversight of business activities

+ Proactively manage a portfolio of audit and regulatory issues, including issue governance, identification, remediation and root cause analysis.

+ Participate in Regulatory inquiry, engagement and response

+ Effectively prioritize matters using fact based, data supported information. Access processes within the business to identify areas of weakness and/or control ineffectiveness.

+ Partner closely with key line of business management across the MLWM team as well as the broader GWIM businesses, in addition to legal, risk, audit and compliance to ensure connectivity and alignment with best practices and guidelines.

+ Lead conversations and influence results.



**Key Experiences and Skills:**



+ Bachelor degree required; 5+ years financial industry experience

+ Intellectual curiosity, strong analytical skills and mindfulness

+ Previous experience in Audit, Risk and/or compliance is preferred (not required)

+ Strategic mindset with strong analytical skills and financial/business acumen

+ Understands the Bank of America & MLWM product platform, functionality, and support infrastructure

+ Strong written and verbal communicator with outstanding influencing skills as well as ability to manage debate and conflict. Includes ability to thoughtfully provide leadership with regulatory, risk and project updates.

+ Ability to prioritize and organize work, manage complexity and deliver solutions on tight deadlines.

+ Detail oriented with the ability to handle a variety of tasks and initiatives independently

+ Ability to work in a self-directed manner and take a proactive approach to job responsibilities

+ Strong partnership and relationship management skills; ability to work across functions and organizational lines/levels

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word



Enterprise OverviewManages diverse administrative functions usually for a very large, complex department or for a complete line of business that may be regional or national in scope, often requiring associates in one or more location. Functions managed may include: financial control/budgeting and consolidation, personnel processes, audit/compliance, premises, and coordination of certain projects, associate training, service quality, process improvement, business continuity, or communication. Consults with senior management in evaluating current methods and developing strategies to implement changes and improvements. Requires a thorough knowledge of the department or business units functional area or products. Working knowledge of general bank policies, programs and procedures and financial/accounting practices. Generally has full management responsibility over a relatively large team and may manage one or more levels of managers.
