The Business Reporting Analyst will be responsible for the management and manipulation of quality data with a focus on creating business intelligence tools, conducting analysis, and assuring data quality. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of daily, weekly, monthly and annual reporting including the design, development, testing, documentation, maintenance and analysis of database queries and reports. Presents analysis results / recommendations to management in a timely, consistent, and accurate manner. Recommends and implements new or modified reporting methods and procedures to improve report content and completeness of information. In addition, the Business Reporting Analyst serves as the subject matter expertise on all Quality and Practice Support Unit data sources and report content to ensure total system quality assurance is met at all times.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Designs, develops, tests, documents and maintains database queries and reports related but not limited to-Quality (HEDIS / STARS), Member Visit Data, Member Care Gaps, and Risk Adjustment Coding
  • Develops systematic reporting processes and procedures to ensure timely delivery of daily, weekly, monthly, annual and ad hoc reporting to management
  • Works with Quality and Practice Support Unit teams to create a prioritized list of needs for each area and documents additional requirements to enrich reporting capabilities
  • Manages reporting and analysis elements on all business initiatives and projects
  • Translates large quantities of in-depth data into meaningful, professional and easy to understand formats that display the information's overall significance to various audiences
  • Creates on-line tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness of staff in their role in servicing our internal and external customers
  • Recommends and implements new or modified reporting methods and procedures to improve report content and completeness of information
  • Troubleshoots data integrity issues, analyzes data for completeness to meet business needs, and proposes documented solution recommendations
  • Coordinates and works to resolve all issues related to reports supported by the department
  • Gains feedback for service improvement opportunities that give a comprehensive understanding of internal and external customer behaviors and needs
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology or related field required. (4 additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree).

  • 3-5+ years of related professional experience in a reporting and analytic role including the design, development, testing, documentation and maintenance of reporting tools and database queries

  • Experience with health plan or health care administration

  • Understanding of HEDIS, HEDIS measures, Medicare Star Ratings and Medicare Risk Adjustment

  • Advanced level skills in MS Excel (including advanced formulas, pivot tables, lists, etc.)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Tableau, SQL, SQL Reporting Services, ODBC, MS Access, and other equivalent data capture / reporting tools

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities with special attention to accuracy and detail

  • Self-starter with a proven ability to take ownership of job responsibilities and ensure successful completion of all projects and requests

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management, including executive and senior management teams

  • Ability to prioritize effectively and multi-task in high volume workload situations

When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Information Technology
  • 5+ years of reporting/analytic experience in the Healthcare Industry
  • 1+ years of experience in a managed care environment
  • Experience in Medicare Advantage Part D (MAPD) operations
  • Familiarity with website development
  • Familiarity with MS Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, or other Reporting Tools
  • Development experience with APIs using Java, MS or similar technology
  • Experience building tabular models in SSAS
  • Familiarity with SSIS
Physical & Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to sit for an extended period of time
  • Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and / or machinery
  • Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and / or in writing
  • Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving
