Sodexo is seeking a Catering Manager 4 Food for a major University in the St. Louis Metropolitan Missouri area. Retail and Catering. High end client expectations. Organized workforce.  Union experience required and guest interaction.  Relocation is available!   

 

You will lead daily activities including event planning and budget management including client follow-up.  Catering offerings will range from casual to high-end and will take place primarily on campus.  Arena/concessions and suites are also a part of the offerings including handling alcohol sales and safety in the suites and some high-end events.  Responsibilities of this role include staffing, budgeting, client relations, training and hands-on event management. 

 

We are seeking an experienced, high energy, innovative leader to join our team.  This position works closely with client customers, the executive and catering chefs, and the general manager and operations manager to exceed guests expectations and deliver outstanding food quality. A successful Catering Manager will have strong customer service skills, strong organizational skills, and be able to hire and develop a professional full and part-time catering team. We are seeking an experienced client focused catering manager with prior catering/hospitality experience and prefer someone with sports concessions and alcohol sales experience.

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 5+ years of previous catering management experience, preferably within a large campus setting or other high volume catering/banquet environment
  • previous concession/arena/suites experience
  • previous experience in alcohol handling/sales experience would be helpful
  • solid organizational skills and excellent leadership/team building skills
  • understanding of menu planning and food cost
  • proven ability to handle catering at all levels from student to executives
  • passion for excellent guest service and attention to details
  • professional demeanor
  • Strong artistic, fresh, and creative flair in relation to catered events
  • Experience in event planning and execution
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Inspire and guide a catering staff
  • Previous experience in high-volume University, Hotel or Conferences with Concessions/Alcohol.

 

Position Summary

Provides supervision for catering services at an account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the Company. Oversees a highly complex and high volume of catering sales and functions in excess of $1.5M in managed catering volume.Contributes to account revenue and operating profit contribution through the implementation of services and creation of opportunities for growth. Plans projects, including defining objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo's strategic plan.Key Duties- Oversight of Sodexo resources, recipes, systems and use of catering programs to direct daily catering events including; food production, inventory, product deliveries, invoices, and procurement operations. - Oversight of the sales process for catering and/or conference services. Works with client and customers to design events.- Ensures employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources to perform their job, and meet goals, cost controls and deadlines as assigned.- Establishes and maintains a safe work environment including both food and physical safety in order to comply with all regulatory and Sodexo standards in various environments. Drives the Zero Harm mindset.- Complies with budget requirements by controlling costs (i.e. labor, inventory, equipment, materials) and making adjustments when necessary- Supervises employees by delegating, assigning and prioritizing activities, and monitoring operating standards 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 3 years   

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years of experience in catering, food production, or food service management or a related field
