Job Summary
Now seeking an experienced Outreach Program Coordinator to work at Center 50+ in Salem, Oregon! This professional level work involves coordinating and assessing outreach services to homebound seniors and those living in community care settings.

Some duties include:
  • Conducting in-home client assessments and establishing minimum criteria and qualifying clients for outreach services;
  • Initiating discussion with Center 50+ Director regarding potential client-related problems;
  • Providing information and assistance to caregivers and patrons on local services and up-to-date literature;
  • Supervising Outreach Services including: Friendly Caller Program, Friendship Brigade Home/Facility Visitor Program, Fix-It Brigade volunteer driven minor home repair service, over-site of the Center 50+ Villages Network (geographically assigned, peer lead groups helping one another remain independent as they age) and Wellness on Wheels (Mobile Senior Center);
  • Supervising part-time exempt (PTE) staff to assist with Volunteer management and PTE Program Activity Assistant activities and performance;
  • Answering all public inquiries;
  • Providing community information;
  • Publishing program calendars;
  • Leading volunteer trainings, participating in networking opportunities, recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers;
  • Reporting to Center 50+ Director of program needs; planning and organizing fund-raising efforts for the Outreach Program;
  • Registering all participants, confirming payment arrangements and registration materials are complete prior to participation;
  • Maintaining client confidentiality;
  • Fulfilling and maintaining all local, State, and Federal certifications, licenses, policies and reporting obligations required to operate Outreach Services and fulfill obligations to receive funds from private grantors and County/State Agency Partners.

This position involves following all guidelines and reporting requirements for funds received from County, State, and Federal funding sources such as Medicaid. We are looking for someone who is always great at maintaining strong interpersonal communication. Experience and expertise with the usage of technology, various software, virtual meeting platforms, web-site design and maintenance, well-versed in social media, and database usage and reporting are highly desirable. The successful candidate will have experience working with older adults, specifically those experiencing age related illnesses, cognitive decline, or chronic stress caused by isolation, loneliness, and mobility limitations.

What are the minimum qualifications?
  • Must pass the pre-employment background check.
  • Must have an Oregon Driver's license and have a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards.
  • Must pass a criminal background check necessary to obtain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance and Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) certification within 30 days of hire (clearance must be maintained throughout employment).
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, public relations, business or public administration, recreation, education, natural resources, or a related field, and three (3) years of experience in working with older adults, specifically those experiencing age related illnesses, cognitive decline, or chronic stress caused by isolation, loneliness, and mobility limitations ; including one year of lead work or supervisory responsibilities, or any combination of education, experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the essential job functions.
  • Bilingual proficiency desired.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience working with older adults experiencing poverty, homelessness, or hunger preferred.
  • Experience in program development and management of a program designed for older adults, specifically individuals with Alzheimer's Disease or dementia or other age-related illnesses
  • Direct experience serving as the lead staff in the daily operations of a senior focused initiative-including staff over-site, budget, program development and implementation, program evaluation skills and accurate assessment of feasibility and growth challenges high preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medicaid policies, procedures, and billing requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local resources available to older adults and their caregivers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge Federal, state, and local laws, codes and rules as applicable to operating in-home program delivery.
