The Dartmouth College Clery Act Compliance Officer serves as the principal institutional official responsible for the administration of policies, procedures, and data collection to ensure compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, as amended by the Campus SaVE Act.

Key Accountabilities

Clery Act Compliance and Annual Reporting

  • Prepares, files, and publishes the Annual Security Report and related compliance reports.
  • Issues Timely Warnings and other emergency notifications as needed; maintains protocols and records related to those notifications.
  • Monitors, updates and implements institutional Clery Act policies and procedures. Formulates changes to policies and procedures based on best practices and applicable law.
  • Identifies, trains, and supports Campus Security Authorities annually.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures required in the Annual Security Report.
  • Evaluates Clery Act campus geographic locations and reviews institutional ownership/control of buildings and properties to ensure accurate and complete data collection; maintains an accurate list of such properties in collaboration with the Real Estate Office.
  • Ensures compliance with HEA Fire Safety regulations and reporting obligations.

Records, Protocol Management, and Program Development

  • Serves as the institutional custodian of all and Clery Act compliance records; maintains databases to ensure accuracy and accessibility of information.
  • Develops policies and procedures to complete and maintain Daily Crime Logs.
  • Gathers crime and disciplinary referral data from internal and external sources including Campus Security Authorities, the Title IX Office, Community Standards and Accountability, and local law enforcement agencies.
  • Classifies crime reports appropriately within DoSS, and trains staff on Clery Act classification requirements.
  • Supports and oversees programs on security awareness and crime prevention and maintains records on those programs.
  • Serves as liaison with Emergency Management to ensure compliance and effective communication of emergency protocols.
