Unit Description

Clinical Nutrition Manager 2 (Sodexo, Inc.; Houston, Texas): is responsible for providing supervision of nutrition care for patients and residents including specialty areas (e.g. pediatrics, diabetes, cardiovascular) and implements business practices in order to uphold Company mission and values. Specific duties include: maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction for nutrition assessments and care planning of patients and residents; fulfills contractual obligations to the client to ensure account retention; manage inpatient and outpatient nutrition services; manage and supervise clinical dietitians who are responsible for providing basic nutrition assessments and care planning for patients; manage staffing productivity and projects deadlines; promotes and supports workplace diversity initiatives; manage the cost and ensure compliance with the budget requirements by making/suggesting adjustments when necessary; assists in the development of new business service(s) for the client and implements the service program(s); projects planning, including defining objectives, scope, specifications, methods, timetables, staffing and budget; manage quality improvement projects in the food service and nutrition area; manages and promotes food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy; ensures employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals, cost controls and deadlines; supervises program activities by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards; establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements, and communicates them to other departments; probes potential problems and apprises general manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexo resource when necessary; stays current with most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications and standards of practice; collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, nutrition care, special diets and menu requests; directs dietary care of patients and residents with basic nutrition needs including screening, assessment and care planning to ensure patient dietary needs and customer satisfaction levels are met; provide ongoing in-services to the kitchen staff to improve interdisciplinary communication and enhance the quality of patient care; work collaboratively with Speech Therapists and other healthcare teams, to ensure patient safety as relates to food; provide RD coverage as needed in the absence of clinical dietitians; responsible for formulary management in the food and nutrition services department; develop nutrition protocol and nutrition policies for ICU and NICU; responsible for Training and mentoring new clinical dietitians and interns; and oversee active team member of patient satisfaction champion project.

 

Minimum requirements: Bachelors degree, or its equivalent, in Nutrition, Food Sciences, or a related field; and 2 years of relevant experience.

 

Must have: Registered Dietitian Certification; License Dietitian for state of Texas; proven knowledge of relevant regulations (federal, state and local regulation), including HIPPA, JCAHO, quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel; experience managing health touch project for improving patients food service experience; experience managing service depot rounding process on daily bases for improving patient satisfaction score; experience managing malnutrition initiative project in the clinical nutrition setting; Serve Safe Manager certification; and able to develop and manage several in service training projects for food service staff on various diets. (Unless otherwise indicated, Sodexo is seeking the ability in the skills listed above with no specific amount of years of experience required. All experience can be gained concurrently).

Position Summary

Functions as the in-unit lead Clinical leader for a medium to large account or multiple accounts under one contract in a system. Manages the daily operations of nutrition services through direct supervision of both non-exempt employees and entry-level exempt professional employees.

Key Duties-Directs daily operations of nutrition programs and ensure customer and client satisfaction levels are met. -May provide direct nutrition care to population served -Establishes and executes operating standards, implements quality improvements, manages the budget and communicates them to other departments. -Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction for nutrition services.-Promotes nutrition services and stays current with most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice. -Manages employees to ensure they meet goals, cost controls deadlines, and collect outcomes.-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel).-Assists in the development of new business service(s) for the client, regional or national initiatives, projects, and implements the service program(s).

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Management Experience - 1 year
