Optum is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist able to perform in a fast-paced environment, working in multiple computer systems to address complex, challenging medication-related concerns. Position is salaried, full-time with highly desirable working hours (Monday to Friday, with evening hours from 5-8 PM required 2 evenings per week, no weekends, no holidays). At present the position is full-time telecommute, this may be subject to change due to business needs. The employee may be required to come into the Atlanta office (2100 River Edge Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30328) based on business needs.

The Pharmacist will interact telephonically with patients on a wide variety of medication-related topics, including (but not limited to) adherence, dosing, duplications, formulary concerns (cost/coverage), interactions, ineffective or inappropriate medications, and untreated conditions. They will also address questions on these topics from internal colleagues, such as nurse case managers and medical directors. Throughout the year there are opportunities to create educational presentations for nurse case managers and medical directors. The Pharmacist may also engage the patient's prescriber to discuss potential medication-related gaps in care.

If you are located in Atlanta, GA, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges. Role is telecommute but you will also come to our office at 2100 Riveredge Pkwy Atlanta once covid restrictions are lifted. No patient contact and you may come to the office for meetings but role is meant to be a telecommuting role.

The successful candidate will have strong clinical experience, including providing both patients and healthcare professionals with evidence-based pharmacotherapy recommendations/education for medical conditions including, but not limited to, diabetes, coronary artery disease, heart failure, asthma and COPD. In working to address complex medication-related concerns, the successful candidate must build relationships with a wide variety of internal colleagues across the business. The ability to organize, prioritize, and adapt to changes in daily workflow is required

  • Active, unrestricted license to practice as a Pharmacist in Atlanta
  • ""
  • Ability to acquire Pharmacist license in Kansas within 6 months of employment start
  • ""
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as licensed Pharmacist
  • ""
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical pharmacy practice experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or health plan
  • ""
  • Strong clinical foundation: experience providing clinical pharmacy services
  • ""
  • Highly motivated and works with minimal guidance
  • ""
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English
  • ""
  • Strong computer skills: functional competency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • ""
  • Ability to come into our Atlanta office as business needs arise (2100 Riveredge Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30328)
