The WSG (Group Life and Retirement) Compliance Department is seeking a Compliance Regulatory Manager to provide regulatory compliance support to the business with a strong focus on Group Life and Voluntary products and other compliance responsibilities. The ideal candidate for this position has insurance product development and operations experience, regulatory and risk experience, demonstrated relationship building capabilities, strong operational skills, interpersonal skills, analytical capabilities, robust organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to drive results and meet deliverables. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing regulatory compliance advice to business partners regarding the practical application of laws and regulations to the development of new group products, the maintenance of current products, issues related to in-force products. and if possible, financial wellness and other Enterprise initiatives.

The candidate should be able to work independently in a fast paced and changing environment, with the ability to flex with shifting responsibilities and priorities.  This position will give the successful candidate broad exposure to the business as well as internal clients and corporate partners (Law, Risk, and others).

This position reports to the Compliance Director, Group Insurance and will be based remotely on a work from home basis.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

         Providing compliance advice to business partners at various levels, regarding the practical application of insurance, broker dealer, and other regulations to ensure business products and their operations are compliant.

         Become a subject matter expert (SME) for Group Insurance Products and operations of the Group Insurance business.

         Compliance of various teams and functions within the group insurance business.

         Conduct research and problem solve complex issues related to business operations and provide solutions to address the business needs,

         Assist in the completion of compliance risk assessments and legal inventory updates.

         Evaluate business operations process and their effectiveness.

         Assist the business to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) and Written Supervisory Procedures (WSPs) to comply with business and corporate policies in support of their operations, as well as providing guidance on existing processes,

         Development, maintenance and execution of compliance reviews, monitoring, testing and control activities for business operations,

         Partner with other control functions such as Legal and Risk as necessary.

         Work on cross business unit projects and initiatives to support and drive the Enterprise horizontal approach as a way of business.

         Provide ongoing training to business partners.

         Stay abreast of industry developments related to group insurance operations, and

         Build continuous strong relationship with business partners.



      • The successful candidate should have 3-5 years of relevant compliance, regulatory, business, operations, or other relevant professional, military or life experience.

      • Experience with group insurance  products preferred.

      • Ability to work independently in a fast paced and changing environment as well as prepared to work in a small, collegial but demanding environment. 

      • Ability to effectively manage several dissimilar deliverables and prioritize.

      • Strength of convictions and ability to influence decisions and champion product administrative or operational changes.

      • Strong technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills are needed.

      • Critical skills such are the ability to issue spot, think strategically, research and resolution, and risk mitigation are necessary

      • Ability to research and problem solve complex issues

      • Ability to collaborate across business units and corporate functions with strong communication skills,

      • Professional skepticism in assessing appropriateness, objectivity and independence

      • Understand key business risks, marketplace and regulatory environment

      • Establishes themselves as credible voice at the table

      • Leads organizational transformation in areas of effectiveness and improvement

      • Comfortable with ambiguity and has the dexterity to adjust as needed

      • Understands the complexities and nuances of a global environment

      • Collaborates in a fully inclusive and open manner

      • Data Analytics experience a plus.

      • Bachelors degree, and advanced degree a plus
