As"a Computer Operator, you will be tasked with monitoring and operating computer"and peripheral equipment, review, analyze, and modify programming systems"including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for large-scale computer"systems. Additional responsibilities include evaluating system specifications,"input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software"compatibility.



Positions"in this function provide expertise in software systems programming, operating"software applications, consulting on complex projects/existing applications,"timely completion of scheduled jobs, and overall operating systems. Also"includes overseeing environments, health and facilitation of high severity"incidents to improve the state of service availability and continuity. Develop"processes and activities that focus on restoring service after an incident"occurs. Document all hardware, application, facility, etc. problems and take"corrective action as required.




  • Work collaboratively"with various individuals in the organization to provide system operator support"in accordance with the Mission and Values of the company.

  • Respect confidentiality"and maintain confidences as described in the UHG Employee Handbook and"acknowledged through signature by all employees. The ability to maintain"confidentiality is a critical and essential component of this position.

  • Ability to work"independently on assigned shift.

  • Utilize precedents and"established procedures to develop, organize and evaluate data to resolve"problems.

  • Follow detailed and"perhaps complex instructions to achieve results. Assistance is readily"available from supervisor.

  • Plan, prepare and execute"the Computer Operations Daily Production Schedule. Provide occasional support"to the Business Analysts which may include record keeping, data entry and batch"processing. Perform system shutdown and start up procedures. Ensure system is"operational at designated time schedule for user access.

  • Supports corporate"vendor relationships by coordinating data exchanges, resolving system issues,"and communicating as needed.

  • Perform routine tasks"to maintain computer equipment and associated peripherals. Load peripheral"equipment media such as tapes and printer paper for operating runs. Observe"peripheral equipment functionality and error messages displayed on system"terminals to detect operational progress, faulty output, or system stoppage."Perform system maintenance tasks such as file saves and back-ups in accordance"with operational schedule and procedures.

  • Troubleshoot failures"in processes, basic connectivity issues, printer issues as outlined.

  • Operate printers and"retrieve printed output for quality control, accuracy, and distribution as"required. Monitors utilization of paper, forms and ribbons and other Data"Center consumables, and re-orders as necessary.

  • Utilize electronic"spreadsheet and database programs to input, update, and maintain data (e.g.,"daily activity logs). Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports as necessary.

  • This position may"require travel. Requires independent, reliable, flexible, and on-demand,"transportation at the incumbent's expense for travel between various locations"and timely arrival and departure from various locations. If the employee"chooses to satisfy this requirement by driving a vehicle, the employee must"meet the requirements for Colorado licensure and company requirements for"liability insurance coverage.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Minimum of 3 years of related progressive Computer Operator experience.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including before and after core business hours and occasional evenings and weekends.

  • You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location

  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expectedto wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained.

  • Ability to access, research and interpret information from a variety of media (e.g., computer screen, projected images, printed material) and individuals.

  • Ability to work in normal office environment conditions and with various office equipment (e.g., computer, keyboard, mouse, calculator, copier, printer, fax, scanner, telephone).

  • Ability to move to access various offices and a wide variety of meeting settings.

  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks that involve standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending and twisting, occasionally climbing stairs or using an elevator, possibly reaching chest high and overhead for materials.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or move materials or other items, in accordance with NIOSH Lifting Index and Guidelines. This specific job requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. to waist height frequently.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or move equipment, furniture, boxes, or other items, in accordance with NIOSH Lifting Index and Guidelines. Ability to use dolly or other lift assistant for oversized items and items over 50 lbs. This specific job requires the ability to move 50 lbs. frequently.
