What You'll Do

The Software Engineer within Cisco Customer Experience delivers the OSS/BSS solution architecture, and consulting services to meet customers requirements. The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver, comfortable with challenging the status quo and rapidly responding to escalated issues. You will drive the Solutions Architecture, design, and communicate with customer and internal Cisco teams many times starting from the RFP / solutioning / scoping (presales) stage of engagement all the way to successful solution implementation. With a seasoned mix of broad networking knowledge and specific area expertise, as well as excellent customer relationship management skills, you're well positioned to become a trusted advisor capable of building solid, long-term relationships with customers.

Who You'll Work With

In this role, you will be "Cisco's face to the customer" working in a fast-paced, high-impact environment as a visible contributor delivering on our commitments. You will work cross functionally with multiple business units and solution teams to leverage multiple Cisco, as well as third-party OSS/BSS/NMS technologies in creating end-to-end and/or vertical specific solutions for our customers.

Who You Are

You are able to correlate business issues around OSS/BSS technologies and operational business processes and be able to create an architectural solution specific to a given customer or segment. You possess excellent communication skills. You will also be responsible for building out internal practice offers and capabilities around various solution areas and architectures. You possess the ability to develop and incubate new service strategies, offers, and articulates them within a technical and business framework. Also influences support processes including Methods and Procedures, Best Practice Documentation and Industry Thought Leadership to improve the effectiveness and relevance of the service delivery. Responsible for providing thought leadership through writing technical white papers, presenting at Industry Events, and mentoring of peers and managers on the OSS/BSS/NMS solutions, services, and architectural challenges.

These are NOT entry-level positions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a technical or business undergraduate degree (or equivalent). MS or MBA is preferred or 5+ years working experience in IT consulting, systems integration or IT role
  • Professional Certifications such Cisco CCNA, TMF eTOM, ITIL, TOGAF9 etc. is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills. You should be able to articulate your solution and vision across Executives and Technical Decision Makers.
  • In depth knowledge in multiple OSS/BSS domains, systems integrations, and telecommunication technologies. OSS/BSS system areas include Fulfillment / Provisioning, Assurance (Fault, Inventory, Performance), or Billing / CRM systems. Prior experience with OSS fulfillment stack or prior experience with other competitive OSS/BSS tools such as Amdocs, MetaSolv, OBRM, Oracle (Siebel) CRM, IBM Tivoli Netcool, InfoVista, or other industry leading stacks is required. The networking technologies include IPNGN, Mobility, TDM2IP, Cloud, and Video.
  • Knowledge of OSS, Network Management and NMS software applications, specifically Cisco EPNM and Cisco Prime suite of applications is essential. Experience with software troubleshooting in a large-scale network environment is a plus.
  • Some prior experience in a software development role is a required. The ideal candidate should have some prior exposure to Java, XML, SNMP, CLI, OpenFlow, etc. or other related software programming and scripting technologies.
  • Expert level knowledge of Linux, Solaris, and Virtualization technologies is required.
  • Prior experience in customer facing role or organization is a plus.
  • Highly organized, motivated, and execution-oriented
  • Must be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a highly technical environment
  • Demonstrated ability for continuous learning, creativity, and problem solving
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Flexibility to travel 25%-50%

Specific Requirements:

  • Intermediate level of networking knowledge is a plus
  • Expert ability to install and diagnose application issues in a UNIX/LINUX enviroment
  • Knowledge of Virtualization (Network, Server, Storage) is a plus
  • Ability to perform intermediate level programming or scripting
  • Proven ability troubleshoot and drive issue resolution.
  • Understanding of tier 1 service provider and cable provider models is a plus
  • Must be able to coordinate across various groups and functional teams.
  • Performs tasks with little to no supervision.
