QMA Quantitative Programming Architect

As a quantitative programmer for QMA, this role partners with the investment teams to develop a research and development platform and support tools for quantitative research, model implementations and reporting. This position will be instrumental to the development of an IT infrastructure support QMA’s quantitative investment business.


Core Functional Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on production implementation through heavy programming of IT backbone for the QMA business.
  • Works in close partnership with the various quantitative research groups at QMA to provide production programming support and systems advice.
  • Daily direct support for the quantitative research and production practice at QMA.
  • Implementation of toolsets and databases to support research by creating and using bespoke software.
  • Being the expert on all research data sources, and the ability to coach the research team on best practices regarding data and analysis.


Experience & Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science/Engineering, Finance, Mathematics/Statistics required; advanced degree a plus
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working with large financial datasets and building language extensions to manage those datasets
  • Experience with a variety of asset classes is desirable, including equity, equity derivatives, futures, bonds, preferred stocks, foreign exchange and commodities
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL (Oracle or Microsoft), and some C#.
  • Skill with git source control systems
  • Solid numerical programming abilities
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Detail oriented
  • Team oriented
  • Knowledge of portfolio management and quantitative asset management (on the buy side) a plus
  • Familiarization with portfolio optimization a plus
