Fairmount Behavioral Health System is currently looking for aper diemCounselor Aideforour day, evening and night shifts.We currently have this position available in our residential Chemical Dependency Program. TheCounselor Aideprovides direct patient care under the supervision of the Charge Nurse or LPN. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis interventions, and activities of daily living. This position is a full time, every other weekend position.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationship processes, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors and CPR training. Previous drug and alcohol experience required.

We provide acute inpatient psychiatric, residential drug/alcohol detoxification and rehabilitation and acute partial hospitalization programs. We are now offering Gender-Responsive and Trauma-Informed Treatment for Adolescent Girls and Adult Women. For 90 years, Fairmount has been a major regional resource for individuals experiencing psychiatric, behavioral or addiction issues.

Job Requirements

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to adults.

Education: Associates or Bachelors Degree in psychology or related field highly preferred; or high school diploma with one year relevant experience in the psychiatric or chemical dependency treatment field.

Experience: Six months experience working with a psychiatric or chemical dependency patient population.

Knowledge: Must possess knowledge of therapeutic relationship processes, CD/12-Step group processes, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors and CPR training.

Environmental Conditions: Exposure to patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, and other hazardous waste. General hospital and residential environment.

Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
