What You'll Do

Cisco Data and Analytics (D&A) Offices charter is to accelerate Ciscos journey to a data-driven business. We lead enterprise-wide data and analytics strategy, governance, policy development, and provide data and insights as a service for Cisco. The playing field is exceptionally dynamic, energized by Ciscos vision to deliver highly secure, software-defined, automated and intelligent platforms for our customers and serve them in their digital transformation journeys. We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced team member to be a part of our organization. This team is looking for a credible professional to support our growing Enterprise Data Architecture and Governance team deliver business value for partners; by supporting them end to end on the journey to become data driven/analytics driven functions. You will equip multi-functional teams with the proper tools, i.e. Machine Learning Data Catalog to advance collaboration on data, across siloes. You will support these users and enhance their user experience. You will also partner with the curators of the Machine Learning Data Catalog; to build robust content and knowledge base. You will provide tech support services for the users of the data catalog.

As a Data Governance Administrator, you will:

  • You will ensure the system administrative jobs are optimized and maintained; in close partnership with the Data Governance Architecture team; by establishing and adhering to the standards of technology product support.
  • You will develop and maintain API scripts, integrations with existing data dictionaries.
  • You will maintain the user stories of technical features in backlog.
  • You will lead the Testing Strategy and establish UAT, BAT cycles; as part of release management.
  • You will create the Data connections and maintain Metadata extraction jobs, schedule of jobs.
  • You will participate in our day-to-day operational follow-up, from handling immediate tactical problems to owning a set of internal processes, catalog curation, catalog adoption, user experience, feedback, bug fixes, enhancement requests; This involves engaging with people across organizations and geographies and 3rd party vendors.
  • You will take part in driving improvement initiatives across teams and functions. This builds your understanding for how we operate and strengthens our capacity to challenge the status quo mindset about governance at Cisco.

You will work with the multi-functional network of users of the Enterprise Data Catalog; and enhance their user experience, provide support, and promote adoption. You will also partner with and manage 3rd party vendor contacts to provide the bug fixes and enhancements that are needed.

Who You Are

The Data Governance Administrator is self-motivated, driven, and truly excited about imparting knowledge through programs and technology during onboarding and long after. This person will work with Enablement leaders to build content and automation for our eLearning courses. You will also work directly with the broader D&A team and Engagement & Enablement team to collect feedback that will drive our programs. The ideal candidate will be as passionate about our industry and solutions as they are about providing an exceptional user experience through learning and training programs.

  • You are not afraid to think creatively and apply creativity to your methods of execution and engagement
  • You are very organized and are comfortable in a constantly evolving environment
  • You are aware of the latest industry advancements in Data Management tools and technology offerings, i.e. Automated Data Lineage, Augmented Data Management, etc.
  • You offer exceptional service and have a customer oriented attitude to tackle problems; extend empathy.

Our minimum requirements for this role:

  • 5 years of enterprise data management software support experience
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science
  • Python, R Programming skills required
  • Development of API scripts
  • User Experience, internal customer facing experience is a must have
  • Maintenance of environments and installing upgrades, monitoring system performance, configuration settings, testing of server hardware, operating and system management.
  • Maintaining system access, monitor, control, evaluation, and creating disaster recovery processes and policies/procedures with documentation.
  • Data Analytics experience preferred; identifying patterns and trends in data sets; and compiling reports for consumption and decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers
  • Strong MS Excel user, macro development and pivot tables
  • Tableau dashboard reporting experience required
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills
  • System integration, Linux troubleshooting, and SQL experience is required
  • Application components and architecture plus functionality, i.e. relational databases, NoSQL databases, Graph, web servers, Cloud Data Warehouse, i.e. Snowflake
  • Experience with SaaS, data management/BI products
  • Work experience in Agile methods/SCRUM model
  • Data Management and Business intelligence experience a plus
  • Organized, responsible, self-motivated, creative problem solver with a drive to continuously improve
