**ROLE SUMMARY**

The Device Engineering, Technical Project Leads has the responsibility for overseeing large, complex, high risk and high impact initiatives.



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Lead matrixed teams to support a variety of large, complex, high risk and high impact medical device and combination product initiatives.Project types include but are not limited to: Remediation Major projects, New Supplier Introductions, Tech Transfers

+ Collaborate with other Global Technology and Engineering group project management leads to establish and maintain standard ways of working (templates, reporting tools, skills development, etc.)

+ Serve as Program Lead for software deployment programs, new product introduction initiatives, line extensions or tech transfer programs



**QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering or a related scientific discipline plus at least 15 years' experience in manufacturing support functions

+ Advanced degree in Business, Engineering or a related scientific discipline is preferred.

+ Certification in Project Management is preferred

As a Technical Project Leader of your own projects you will be expected to have strong skills as follows:



Leadership

Set the key goals and major objectives. Maintain focus and provide clear direction to team members as well as external influencers, be the champion for the project, be clear about the program's priority in the portfolio, demand technical and scientific excellence from team members and support team member personal development. Clarify roles and responsibilities of team members both between potentially competing team members and to their bosses. Actively solicit input from team members and key stake holders. Recognize and acknowledge the contributions of team members.



Decision Making/Judgement

Include the team in formulating decisions and accept accountability for the decision. Provide honest assessments of the project relative to current and future cost. Proactively acknowledge the time to advance the project to the next stage and when to recommend termination.



Knowledge

Understand the scientific rationale and technical issues associated with the project and with the processes and progression criteria associated with the stages of Development and Implementation.



Planning

Develop project plans that achieve the objective in the shortest amount of time with the least cost. Challenge work that is not directly related to the critical path. Negotiate approval of the project plan with management. Ensure that the plan is re-evaluated, adjusted and re-negotiated at regular intervals, or when internal data or external information suggests that the timeline may slip or certain objectives may not be met.



Influencing

Making sure all team members and their line managers and key stakeholders support the project or program.



Negotiation

Interact directly with line managers to ensure resources are available when needed, and negotiate amendments to the project plan especially those that change deliverable completion dates.



Meeting Management

Organize, facilitate and ensure follow-up action on issues raised in meetings.



Communication

Keep team members and stakeholders informed of key developments, program decisions, issues, and changes to the project and the project plan. Provide timely reporting in corporate project reporting system or to any corporate review board. And promote and support external presentation of technical advances made by the team. Provide relevant information to financial, legal or regulatory groups as required.



Alliance Management

Fulfil obligations to external alliance partners/suppliers. Support to the project by the partner may be reported by way of an employee of the partnering organization who serves as an actual team member, or through regular communications managed by steering committee. The extent to which functions of the team are outsourced, will determine the extent to which proper alliance management is critical to an adequately functioning project team.



**PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS**

Ability to analyze complex technical issues that have no obvious solutions.

+ Travel up to 25%



+ International travel

+ Adaptation of work schedule to accommodate meetings with colleagues in different time zones
