Diesel Mechanics Manager

Star Line Mackinac Island Hydro-Jet Ferry is the largest Ferry company providing passenger and freight transportation to and from beautiful Mackinac Island. This position is located in scenic Northern Michigan and is a popular tourist and historical destination drawing visitors globally, with peak season during warmer months in addition to adventure seekers year-round.

Star Line Mackinac Island Hydro-Jet Ferry is now hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanics Manager!

We are looking for hard-working, enthusiastic team players. If you love being on the open water, we encourage you to apply now! We work hard and play hard!

This person would be a highly motivated individual who is interested in maintaining our various marine vessels, shuttles, and company vehicles. Our marine vessel fleet is primarily MTU, Detroit diesels and jet.

This person must have hands on as well as leadership and management of a diesel mechanics facility, oversee the day to day operation of the Mechanic shop and other Star Line facilities. As a Diesel Mechanic Manager, you would Supervise, train, direct and prioritize work of the mechanics crew. This position ensures preventive maintenance and repairs meet all quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

8 years experience as a hands on diesel mechanic

4 years experience with leading and managing employees

Experience in Heavy diesel engine diagnosis and repair

Experience and understanding of managing costs and inventory

Ability to operate and train on use of power tools and specialized machinery

Strong AC/DC electrical knowledge
