**Department Overview**

Corporate Affairs is here to promote our company's purpose - Breakthroughs that change patients' lives. We do this by developing national strategic relationships and creating advocates for Pfizer. Our job is to demonstrate the value of our medicines and company, positively influence the policy agenda and enhance our reputation. There are over 30 people in our group and they work across three teams:

+ **Healthcare policy and public affairs:** accountable for shaping Pfizer's policy agenda, managing relationships with government, NHS and policy stakeholders and strategically guiding the business.

+ **External communications** : accountable for how Pfizer UK is perceived by the outside world by developing and telling a compelling brand story and managing relationships with the media.

+ **Colleague and Community engagement:** accountable for building internal pride among our 2,500 UK colleagues and generating external reliability through impactful Corporate Responsibility programmes.

Although there are three distinct teams, we don't operate in isolation - we work collectively to deliver one mutual plan.

**What can I achieve and what will I be accountable for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?**

A role in our team gives you the unique opportunity to gain insights into the specific skills and attributes that make an effective corporate affairs professional, while also learning about commercial business in major international company. Unlike other parts of the business, we work across every area of Pfizer. We therefore understand the goals and challenges for every health area we cover as well as the overall big picture for the UK business.

Undergraduates in Corporate Affairs benefit from developing highly transferable skills that are the foundations for any professional career: navigating complex business challenges with multiple internal and external stakeholders; managing a diverse set of projects and tasks; developing excellent time management and communication skills and learning best-in-class stakeholder management.

We work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and our roles mean we need to take both the external political and healthcare worlds into account as well as the internal company direction and developments. It is a fantastic way to learn how a large company seeks to invest in and get the best out of its people as well as finding out how we navigate the ever-changing political landscape, support the UK's health agenda and present our company to the outside world.

As an undergraduate in the digital communications team, you will use social media and web-based channels to convey the great work of Pfizer and its colleagues, demonstrating Pfizer's commitment to "Breakthroughs that changes patients' lives". The role will involve helping develop, deliver and monitor multi-channel digital campaigns that enable the business to 'lead the conversation' across prioritised therapy areas and topics, enhancing Pfizer's reputation with key stakeholders and the wider UK public.

Key assignments include:

+ Helping to shape the Pfizer UK digital communication strategy

+ Social media monitoring (looking for opportunities for Pfizer to engage on key topics)

+ Developing and scheduling social content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube

+ Updating the Pfizer.co.uk website

+ Managing internal approvals for social and web-based content

+ Maintaining close working relationships with each of Pfizer's therapy area teams

+ Measuring the impact of our digital communication programmes

**When can I start?**

Placements will start on 1st September 2021 and will run for 12 months.


Type of person we are looking for, in relation to ' **Skills** ', ' **Knowledge** ' and ' **Motivation** ':

+ Studying for a Degree with a placement year as part of the Degree, or taking a gap year

+ On target for a Degree Classification

+ Able to manage multiple deliverables, with a strong ability to plan and prioritise workload

+ Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills

+ IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office tools

+ Strong interactive skills and able thrive in a team environment where outcomes rely on the group

+ Able to take instructions and self-motivated to apply them within defined timeframes

+ Good attention to detail

+ Strong desire to be a continuous learner
