POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Director is responsible for implementation, ongoing management and strategic growth of the program: HBO, inpatient and outreach. The Program Director oversees day-to-day program operations and is responsible for: budgeting, revenue and cost management, reimbursement, quality management, performance improvement, training, safety, marketing and community education, and human resource management. The Program Director is responsible for maintaining collaborative and consultative client relationships, integrating programs within the hospital organization and creating effective working relationships with organizations external to the hospital organization. Ultimately, the Program Director is accountable for achieving program metrics, demonstrating the value proposition to the customer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of 5 years experience as a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist or equivalent.
  2. Previous one year clinical supervisory experience preferred.
  3. Previous healthcare experience in a healthcare operations setting, including background in personnel, finance, sales and marketing, and/or reimbursement preferred.
  4. Must demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and abilities:

  7. Excellent written and oral communication skills

  8. Effective problem solving and negotiation skills

  9. Basic knowledge of healthcare reimbursement issues

  1. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHSs Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

DUTIES:

  • Providing day-to-day management oversight for the outpatient clinic, HBO and other wound continuum sites of care, which may include inpatient and outreach.

  • Utilizing resources to develop and implement customized policies and procedures.

  • Continuously analyzing systems and processes; developing and implementing best practices and appropriate changes to improve outcomes in a timely manner.

  • Monitoring clinic flow to improve efficiencies and productivity.

  • Working with hospital personnel to ensure availability of adequate resources, supplies, equipment and services.

  • Developing communication methods to facilitate the flow of information and maximize effective communication throughout the program.

  • Managing and/or coordinating all aspects of the revenue cycle including: inquiry conversion, scheduling, registration, treatment authorization, documentation, coding, charge entry, billing, collections and, denial process.

  • Regularly reviews the Charge Description Master and Superbill to ensure appropriate reimbursement.

  • Developing, implementing and consistently executing a marketing and community education plan. Working collaboratively with the hospitals planning and marketing department.

  • Facilitating and/or conducting individual and group educational presentations to healthcare professionals and general community.

  • Influencing Medical Director and panel physicians to function as program advocates.

  • Documenting contacts and regularly monitoring physician referral patterns to identify and manage trends.

  • Establish performance expectations, providing regular feedback and consistently managing these expectations. Completing performance appraisals, promoting staff development activities, utilizing performance improvement procedures as necessary, and adhering to hospital policies and procedures.

  • Developing an effective team, motivating and influencing staff to excel.

  • Collaborates with Clinical Coordinator and Medical Director to develop, implement and manage a continuous Performance Improvement Program.

  • Integrates effectively and seamlessly at all levels within the organization. Participates in hospital departmental/management meetings and actively participates in hospital communication and social activities.

  • Ensuring regulatory compliance with Joint Commission and other applicable accrediting and regulatory bodies.

  • Designing a Safety Director and monitoring program operations for patient safety.

  • Identifying the hospitals strategic goals and objectives and managing the program to achieve those goals.

  • Develops and implements effective working relationships with panel physicians, clinical and support staff. Encourages all program staff to interact positively and in the spirit of good teamwork with members of other hospital departments.

  • Meets regularly with key hospital leaders regarding goal achievement.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

  1. Certification through the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) or American Board of Wound Healing (ABWH)

  2. Must possess at minimum an Associate Degree or relevant work experience to substitute

  3. Must have and maintain current certifications, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Providers Program (for any and all certifications applicable through the AHA program) please check all that apply:

NRP

If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire, nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;

or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

TNCC

If required in unit, must have and maintain certification within eighteen months after hire;

or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

STABLE

If required in unit, must obtain within 12 months of hire,

or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

CPI

If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire; nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;

or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

SAMA

If required in unit, - obtain within 30 days of hire
