The Director of Cardiovascular Service Line is responsible for all areas of cardiology within UHS, including service line strategic planning, implementation and evaluation.Integrates cardiology vision with clinical, operational and growth strategies ensuring UHS hospitals are the hospitals of choice in respective markets.Provides collaborative development and oversight of highly organized and effective clinical and strategic operations and quality initiatives in dynamic hospital and clinic environments. Collaborates to guide throughput operations, resources, performance and indirect management of the Cardiac Cath Labs, Cardiology Clinics and departments directly influencing cardiac care (Emergency Departments and Surgery Departments). Leads and collaborates with Information Technology for optimization of clinical and reporting needs.Evaluates, mentors, and coaches facility leadership.Assists facilities with regulatory compliance and achievement of organizational metrics through audit, policy development/maintenance, tool kits, and standardization of processes.

Essential Job Duties

  • Provides professional leadership and strategic direction for evidenced-based practice, leading to high quality and optimal clinical outcomes, positive patient experience and safety while conserving resources and standardizing professional practice
  • Provides mentoringand corporate orientation to facility cardiology leaders
  • Promotes continuing education/certification for oneself and staff to ensure high performance and future readiness
  • Conducts monthly High Reliability calls/webinars to facilitate communication and process improvement
  • Designs and implements innovative operations, processes and workflows that reduce variation in practice and promotes efficient, high-quality patient-centric care
  • Develops a collaborative strategy with clinical leadership, quality, risk, patient safety, operational excellence, and information technology, Business Development and nursing to improve quality, safety and performance.Provides subject matter expertise to these departments


Job Requirements

Master's Degree required. Doctoral Degree preferred. 8-10 years of progressive experience in managing operations in an OR or Cath Lab with at least 5 years of experience in managing complex process improvement and quality projects in the OR service line.Experience with ambulatory cardiac care preferred.

  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license or equivalent
  • Certification in project management, lean six sigma, quality, or related skill set
  • Three years of senior level leadership experience with Cardiology in a tertiary facility
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams, senior leadership teams, and facility stakeholders
