About the Role:

The Prudential Law Department is seeking a litigation attorney to join its Enterprise Litigation Group (the ELG). The ELG is responsible for handling all litigations impacting the Company.  This position will interact with senior management of the Law Department as well as with senior business and corporate clients.


Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a number of litigation and pre-litigation matters. Specifically, the successful candidate will have primary accountability for selecting and managing outside counsel teams that handle individual matters by, among other things: directing case strategy, witness and document discovery, case budgets and bills, and written submissions.  In addition, the successful candidate will be highly organized, an expert in prioritizing work, comfortable making decisions, and will clearly and timely communicate on case status or escalate challenges internally. The successful candidate will be inquisitive and seek to fully understand the needs and objectives of the Companys business units.  The successful candidate will be responsible for building trusted relationships with business lawyers and business professionals in order to identify and resolve pre-litigation risk assessments and represent the company.

The successful candidate should have:

  • At least five years of law firm and/or in-house experience, with some in-house experience preferred, during which a portion of time was spent on employment and employee benefits litigation.

  • Superior interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently in completing assignments promptly and thoughtfully;

  • Excellent judgment and high ethical standards;

  • Strong project and time management skills;

  • Demonstrated ability as a leader in solving problems creatively and constructively, with strong analytical abilities;

  • The ability to balance multiple assignments simultaneously, and appropriately assess and prioritize work requirements; and

  • Experience managing outside counsel.
