The Director, Third Party Risk Management, is responsible for directing, overseeing and promoting core components of the Third Party Risk Management program on behalf of Operational Risk Management, supporting Prudential Financial and our global business lines and corporate functions.  This position reports to the Head of Third Party Risk Management.   The incumbent will also lead or contribute to special projects that support key focus areas of the program and related areas within the Third Party Risk Management framework. 


Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Contribute to the successful execution of the Third Party Risk Management program to ensure a consistent, risk-based approach  
  • Establish strong partnerships with business lines and corporate functions to ensure effective planning and collaboration on third party risk management related matters
  • Consult and guide business managers across business and corporate functions responsible for third party relationships
  • Actively engage and collaborate with peers and team members, contributing to the best collective strategic thinking
  • Engage internal subject matter experts across information technology, information security, privacy, sourcing, legal, corporate security and other influencers to contribute to the effective management of third party 
  • Produce and present materials for varying audiences across all management levels in support of key decisions
  • Establish and maintain internal and external relationships necessary to continuously evolve vendor management and outsourcing subject matter expertise and benchmark Prudential practices
  • Lead and/or contribute to special projects and initiatives including program planning, business case development, solution definition and development, project management, resource coordination, and senior management presentations/reporting 


  • At least 5 years of proven experience in vendor risk management or vendor program management supporting a global enterprise
  • At least 5 years experience in risk management or related control discipline such as audit or compliance
  • Financial Services industry experience and knowledge of organization hierarchies and related functions and processes a plus
  • Direct experience developing, implementing or managing all or material aspects of a global program and its related components
  • Outstanding planning, analysis, facilitation, negotiation and problem resolution skills
  • Strong strategic thinking, intelligent decision making and process management/delivery capability
  • Demonstrated leadership in collaborating, managing and influencing relationships across a broad set of stakeholders and executives
  • Strong skills in leading meetings and preparing materials/presentations for internal and external parties
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to tailor messages to various audiences  
  • Results oriented self-starter with ability to organize and lead multiple concurrent priorities while working independently or part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn quickly, uphold high performance standards and thrive in situations where ambiguity is to be anticipated and a sense of urgency is required
  • Strong proficiency with desktop technology (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with enterprise platforms and related components (e.g. workflows, dashboards, inventories, reporting)
