What You'll Do

This Director will be expected to strategically drive Cisco's end-to-end strategic vision and point-of-view for the Americas Service Provider (ASP) organization, as well as maintain an in-depth understanding of our customers, competitors, industry trends, market opportunities, customer requirements, and Cisco technology relative to those industries.  The Director will work closely and cross-functionally with Cisco's most senior executives within Sales and Marketing, Partner Organization, Services, Technology Business Units, and Cisco's Executive team. This role is one of the largest, most visible, and complex within Cisco's Americas Service Provider Sales organization. This key leadership role will continue the development of our sales delivery model through the capability development and enablement of our highly talented and motivated sales organization. Setting a vision, effecting results in a matrixed management environment, and building strategic business decision-making capability to the next level will be a major factor for success in this position.

Who You'll Work With

You will be expected to motivate, enable, inspire, and continually develop your teams, the broader Americas SP sales force and channel partners while aligning the internal Cisco engine to gain market share.

Who You Are

General responsibilities include:

  • Driving thought leadership and Cisco preference with our customers
  • Market, competitor and customer analysis 
  • Setting the industry and go-to-market strategy for Americas Service Provider org
  • Revenue growth in product and services for the ASP industries
  • Leadership of cross-functional teams comprising senior sales and technology business units
  • Strong subject matter expertise in the relevant ASP industries

You will have/must be:

  • 8+ years experience in some combination of Service Provider industries with a proven record of driving business value through technology
  • 8+ years senior management experience; you should possess both sales leadership and cross-functional/general management experience
  • Demonstrated track record managing significant revenue responsibility and/or profit/loss center and overachieving targets to meet stretch goals
  • Business Development and strategy experience required
  • Consulting and/or professional services background
  • Demonstrated ability to provide thought leadership, think strategically and effectively communicate vision (both written and verbal) and influence cross-functionally
  • Adept at balancing intense short-term pressures with overall long-term goals
  • Strong executive presence, polished, and politically savvy
  • Strong leadership skills in mentoring, enabling and developing a sales organization
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to persuade -- using simple communications that convey complex concepts in a compelling, concise, and creative way
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead change in a matrix-managed team culture
  • You have positive relationship building abilities and be a team-player
  • Demonstrated track record of simplifying processes and/or technology solutions to articulate into sellable motions
  • Strong leadership abilities in teaching and enabling a sales organization on how to take complex technology and sell it in a more simplified, holistic way based on customer/industry requirements

You will be bright, dynamic, and possess the leadership qualities necessary to set a vision for leading at Cisco. You'll have the engaging personality needed to inspire and create excitement with the sales teams, as well as across the entire organization and in the industries. You will also be strategic and innovative with an external awareness to understand the nuances of selling complex data network products, as well as other new products as Cisco expands its market by translating the value of the technology to business outcomes. Utilizing a consultative style, you're experienced in teaching and developing their teams to identify and define client needs and develop innovative customer outcomes.

You'll possess an entrepreneurial, risk-taking flair and a brand of confidence, which allows for delegation and empowers your team. You must be able to balance both short term goals with a longer-term vision for how they will continue to grow the Americas Service Provider industries and deliver the Cisco value proposition over the next several years. You should have innovative tools for creating a learning culture within the sales organization and have proven teaming skills with peers to continue to evolve the best operating practices at Cisco. You have the highest level of integrity, and you're able to inspire trust and confidence in our employees, partners, and customers.

Finally, you'll have a level of business maturity, flexibility to change and the instincts to adapt to a high-energy, dynamic environment characterized by high growth expectations and a collaborative culture.
