What Youll Do:

The Editorial Specialist, Content Development works as part of the Product Management and Development Team to support the development of Discovery Educations Techbook digital services and print products. The individual is responsible for coordinating print and digital production and ensuring the quality and consistency of content across all product lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Editorial Content Manager in implementing Discovery Education content and instructional design across all products by working cross-functionally with internal groups
  • Maintain workflows through all phases of content development, closely aligning with vendors and project-based contractors
  • Support the Editorial Content Manager in development and maintenance of project guidelines, templates, and style documentation
  • Review content for instructional integrity and adherence to editorial house style
  • Write, edit, and copyedit digital and print components for national, regional (international), and state-specific educator and student audiences
  • Support the Editorial team in maintaining the accuracy of internal planning documents, processes, metadata, rights clearance, and schedules
  • Support other Product Development and Curriculum projects as needed
  • Create digital assets and build content in digital content management systems as needed


  • Ensures timely and appropriate development and delivery of digital and print content
  • Ensures that all content conforms to Discovery Educations editorial style
  • Ensures consistency of content implementation across product types
  • Effectively communicates with team members to accomplish content development goals

  • Specifics:
    • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in use of multiple types of software (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Photoshop)
    • Knowledge and Skills:
      • Strong proficiency in writing, grammar, and spelling. In-depth knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style
      • Proven copyediting experience
      • Familiarity with editorial markup conventions and editorial review procedures
      • Strong level of comfort with digital content management and file organization systems
      • Knowledge of the K-12 educational marketplace
      • Fluency in Spanish a plus
    • Professional Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in educational multimedia/print content development with respected company, serving schools, libraries, and/or universities
    • Education: Bachelors Degree in education, English, or communications
    • Flexibility/Travel: Up to 10% travel
