Job Description

This position is an SME role responsible for designing, maintaining Electrical systems (Power and controls), instrumentation, automation systems (SCADAs, PLCs, Equipment networks, BMS), including troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. This role oversees maintenance, reliability enhancements and upgrades to the sites electrical power distribution system and develops electrical maintenance and troubleshooting guidelines and procedures including Electrical Safety.

  • Responsible for power distribution system including but not limited to: substations, emergency generators, UPS systems, lighting, motor control centers, etc.
  • Implement Preventive Maintenance Program for plant electrical system (mains and distribution) including Arc Flash, IR scans, breaker testing, etc. Identify/implement reliability improvements and upgrades to the power distribution system.
  • Maintain/troubleshoot automation systems (SCADA, PLCs etc.), instrumentation and Electrical controls for Oral solid dosage equipment and BMS.
  • Performing Power System Studies such as load flow, short circuit, device evaluation, breaker coordination, and arc flash hazard for manufacturing facilities.
  • Provide direction for Plant electricians, coordinates Elect. Maintenance/PM activities to minimize downtime.
  • Provide Electrical Engineering support and perspective on cross-functional teams ensuring new products, product improvements, investigations, deviations and CAPAs.
  • Provide SME inputs (re power-distribution systems and electrical eng. best practices) to all new and existing projects.
  • Responsible for electrical drawings, specifications, and calculation.
  • As Sustainability Project Lead, implement energy conservation initiatives (leading x-functional team of energy champions from each area).
  • Create SOPs, work instructions, and equipment maintenance plans.
  • Verify JSAs (Job safety analysis) for non-routine jobs, pertaining electrical safety hazards.
  • Periodically on-call to support 24/7 production schedule
  • Liaise closely with electrical utility company for co-ordination of electrical load management, maintenance, shutdown management and energy conservation matters.


  • B.S. in a technical/engineering discipline 
  • Minimum of 5 years electrical engineering, instrumentation and controls experience.
  • Experience in a regulated industry would be beneficial.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical engineering principles and engineering best practices.
  • Working knowledge of power distribution, lighting system, system design and specifications (up to 15kV systems) .
  • Problem solving and RCA experience.
