Cisco Systems Inc.
London, England SW1A 2

Base location: London, UK

Salary: competitive

Posting date: 14th of June 2019

End date for applications: 14th of July 2019

What You'll Do

You will be working on Cisco's strategic focus on AI/ML Systems Engineering and will specifically focus on the open source Kubeflow project. This would require, at the very minimum, upstream code contribution to the Kubeflow project, attending Kubeflow community meetings, and engaging with the community via online communication channels. Additionally, you will have to collaborate with your immediate Cisco team by means of technical presentations and by being a liaison between your team and the open source community.  This project has both external and internal (within Cisco) visibility. In doing so, you will get to work on developing enterprise grade AI/ML systems in a distributed system run by containers.

Who You'll Work With

Within Cisco, you will work with a small, motivated, and humble team of experts who are working at the bleeding edge in the field of AI/ML Systems. By virtue of working on an open source project, you will also get to work with motivated engineers from the open source community.

Who You Are

The candidate should be self-motivated and a fast learner in an agile environment. He/she must be able to carry an idea from conception to implementation. He/she must be humble and possess confident presentations and writing skills.

Basic Requirements

The candidate should have an MS degree in Computer Science and must have hands on experience on basic and advanced ML concepts and on ML systems in a containerized ecosystem, such as Kubernetes. Hands on experience with the Kubeflow project would be a definite advantage. The candidate must have a confirmed history of code contributions to open source projects. The candidate must be an expert software engineer with strong data structures and algorithms skills. She/he should be able to design complex systems e.g. a hyper-parameter search, structure the code, define the right protobufs and deliver quality code (in Go for example) that passes the community scrutiny. In addition, the candidate is expected to know how to write ML workloads in scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, etc., especially in a Kubernetes environment. In addition, she/he is also expected to understand and leverage open source distributed systems towards building complete AI/ML solutions. Experience in working with tools such as Grafana and Prometheus will also be favorable.
