The Business Entity: Cisco CMS seeks an Event Engineer to join some of the industrys brightest minds in providing Event Management support for Ciscos run services customers. Team Description: The ideal candidate will join a team that demonstrates an aptitude and appetite for providing an exceptional customer experience. Youll work multi-functionally with other teams and processes to meet and exceed internal/external customer expectations.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for working with various Cisco teams like Delivery, Problem Management to identify various opportunities to optimize and decrease workload for Network Operations Centre or Security Operations Centre teams. Using latest platform features and various combinations of existing methods, your day to day job primary include tuning of events on Cisco's CMSP platform.

Who You'll Work With

You will work with Event Management domain specialists based in various locations across the World. Together you will be reviewing and executing the best approach to identify, discuss and implement most efficient platform settings resulting in savings generation for Cisco.

Who You Are

You are a person with advanced knowledge of Cisco and other technologies (example: Cisco UCS, Nexus, and IOS platforms) with confirmed background in network management methods and architectures. Experienced in data analysis with firm grasp of ITIL terminology and practices. You are able to run multiple projects/requests and drive actions with multi-functional teams. Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision with consistency and quality is your strong attribute. Ability to motivate change through innovation & process improvement is your key skill. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership experience and crisis management in the area of Network Operations. Confirmed planning, prioritization, and organizational skills are something you have control of. You share information and communicate clearly with team members to improve team effectiveness. By constant collaboration with team you encourage and accept feedback

Responsibilities:

  • Event Management responsibilities will be primarily involved with working cross functionally with our delivery, problem management, product management, and developers to determine ideal behavior for our platform across a variety of service offerings.
  • Analyze large quantities of data from our platforms around what events are important and actionable to our customers and delivery engineers.
  • Act as a focal point for other ITIL functions within the organization.
  • High-level understanding of a wide variety of technologies.
  • Act as a focal point and customer concern contact for high priority platform issues related to event management.
  • Effectively communicate status of high priority issues across all of the impacted teams and management structures.
  • Work with our global process team to develop internal and multi-functional processes.
  • Follow processes to maintain documentation on the changes made to the customers platform instance to ensure traceability and alignment to all of our agreements with the customers.
  • Strategic planning requests for automations in the platform to enrich the information identified as events and in some cases to remediate events.
  • Being the Single point of contact for Event Manager and holding the responsibility for effective Event Management process
  • Strategic planning day-to-day activities and operation of the process
  • Observing and controlling overall service status in platform and reacting when required where possible
  • Verifying of supervising coverage of all in scope CIs
  • Maintaining Monitoring Baseline for all in scope services
  • Gathering and reporting on process metrics.
  • Ensuring all ongoing platform (EM related) issues are addressed.
  • Performing regular Event reviews in order to tune Monitoring to ensure effective Event Management process.
  • Raising Request for Changes being an output from Event Reviews.
  • Strategic Planning Event critical issue matrix.
  • Following relationships with other processes and roles.
  • Supporting implementation of any new service targeted by Event Management.
  • Advising on appropriate thresholds and triggers for Events.
  • May require minimal travel

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Cisco and other technologies (example: Cisco UCS, Nexus, and IOS platforms)
  • Solid background in network management methods and architectures
  • Data analysis abilities
  • Firm grasp of ITIL terminology and practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to run multiple projects and drive actions with multi-functional teams
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision with consistency and quality
  • Confirmed leadership experience and crisis management in the area of Network Operations
  • Validated planning, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Ability to motivate change through innovation & process improvement
  • Shares information and communicates clearly with team members to improve team effectiveness. Encourages and accepts feedback

Educational background and certifications recommended:

  • BS in Engineering/Computer Science/IT or equivalent experience
  • Certifications: one or more professional level industry certification (CCNP, CCDP, VCP) ITIL a plus
