This leadership position is responsible for building and maintaining strategic client relationships, successful performance management/ plan administration, and play a critical role in external relations with various entities in Rhode Island. This position would also be responsible for the deployment of business processes and technology-enabled solutions to deliver benefit to providers and members in the client's service area.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring and overseeing operational performance to expectations (i.e. avoiding all contract/performance penalties, oversight of action/remediation plans) to ensure the success of the behavioral health program
  • Engaging key market external stakeholders regarding the BH program service delivery, as well as representing BH performance as part of the plan's overall representation (i.e. EOHHS, DCYF, network providers)
  • Monitoring financial performance to trend expectations and engaging internal resources as necessary to report on, analyze and develop interventions to ensure success
  • Leverage/Drive Optum's product offerings and integrated partnerships on behalf of NHP RI ( i.e. Genoa integration activities, PRAISE Program)
  • Exploring potential innovations/enhancements in partnership with the plan (i.e. value-based contracts, organizational structure changes, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance to state specific regulations across all lines of business
  • Represents Optum in relevant organizations and meetings, inclusive of client and regulatory commitments
  • Formulates and drives action plans to remedy any findings from provider audits or provider concerns or in response to client concerns
  • Demonstrates an effective, adaptive leadership style that promotes innovation and accountability and establishes work priorities; delegates pertinent activities
  • Develops reviews and approves documents which provide information and program justification; participate in annual program planning and reporting
  • Provides leadership and direction in the development of appropriate risk management strategies
