Sodexo is seeking a Facilities Engineer Operations Manager 2 for Sentara Medical Center in Woodbridge, VA.  This is a 183 licensed bed acute care medical center located in the northern Virginia/Washington DC Metro area.  This successful manager will oversee a team of 15 and will supervise the facilities operation in this high traffic hospital. Overall, must be results driven and understand employee engagement. The ability to work independently will be paramount for this position. Location is comprised of 450,000 square feet and is accredited by The Joint Commission and pride themselves on providing excellent medical care while striving to care for our patients, their families and friends with thoughtfulness and respect.

Under the direction of the Facilities Director (FD), the Operations Manager (OM) provides the coordination of all functions and activities of the Facilities Management Departments, including Engineering, Plant Operations, and Facilities Management in a healthcare setting. The Operations Manager will assume overall responsibility for the safe and efficient functioning, maintenance and operation of all buildings, equipment, machinery, systems, and grounds keeping. Will coordinate and is professionally responsible for the proper installation, operation and maintenance of uninterrupted light, heat, power, water, and monitoring systems of all health system buildings and services. The Operations Manager has oversight of staffing, construction/renovation operations, landscape operations, campus planning, skilled trades contractors, maintenance and repair programs and energy management. Work in partnership with the owner representative for construction activities. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and regulatory agencies, efficiency of services and delivery of optimal customer service.

  • Plans, improves, and maintains owned and leased facilities and equipment.
  • Provides strategic leadership and vision for departments.
  • Provides coordination and direction in the design, review, and specifications of construction and remodel projects with architects and administration. Monitors day to day activities and work on Engineering, Plant Operations, Aesthetics and Grounds. Provides oversight as needed for contractors and construction managers.
  • Negotiates project contracts under the direction of the FM Director.
  • Manages activities concerning technical development and scheduling.
  • Establishes and manages budgets and productivity targets. Controls expenditures within the limitations of the project and department budgets.
  • Ensures maintenance of physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems, and grounds are in operative and safe working condition at all time.
  • Responsible for constant state of readiness to comply with DNV and PE, Life Safety and Emergency Preparedness survey inspections, preparation, and document requirements.
  • Ensures that the health system is in compliance with all local, state, and federal codes and regulations. Assists in gathering information and assembling files for State Health Inspections.

    The Assistaint Director has oversight of staffing, construction/renovation operations, landscape operations, campus planning, skilled trades contractors, maintenance and repair programs and energy management. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and regulatory agencies, efficiency of services and delivery of optimal customer service.

     

    We are looking for candidates who have:

    • plant operations and maintenance management experience in a health care environment;\u2022 experience with the Join Commission, Environment of Care (EOC), OSHA and Life Safety requirements;\u2022 strong technical knowledge of the following: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, fire protection, safety systems, civil, low voltage, demolition, architectural and energy management;\u2022 business and financial acumen with a strong P&L understanding;\u2022 excellent customer service and communication skills;\u2022 staff development and team building experience;\u2022 Certified Health Care Facilities Manager (CHFM) is a plus; and\u2022 a bachelors degree in engineering or related fields preferred.

    Position Summary

    Back up to GM; 2nd in command; Supervises the account as the #2 manager and has full responsibility including supervision of other managers. Responsible for entire account when the Director of Facilities Ops is not present.Two scenarios for this position in Univ.:A) Has all facilities rolling up Custodial / maintenance and grounds, and FM who reports to GM; very large integrated operation.B) Mega account multiple managers of maintenance; PM function; other specific managers unifying position.

    Key Duties- Manage other managers; manage by walking around (rounding); Staffs, trains, and is responsible for employee development- client interface; - payroll oversight;- budgetary oversight on some services; - Oversees and coordinates projects- Manages work orders/CMMS- Manages mechanicals (i.e. HVAC)- Manages QA and Safety

     

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

    Basic Management Experience - 5 years   

    Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in facilities maintenance, plant operations or engineering services
