Sodexo is seeking a Food Operations Manager 1 for St. Mary's Hospital - St. Louis in Richmond Heights, MO, centrally located in metro St. Louis. The Food Operations Manager will have oversight and provide support to culinary and patient room service operations. St. Mary's is a 375 census full-service hospital that provides a wide variety of services with exceptional care. They are two-time winners of the Premier Award for Quality and primary location for St. Louis University School of Medicine's Dept of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Family Practice Residency programs.

The successful candidate will:

  • help motivate, coach, mentor and develop front-line (hourly-paid), staff;
  • provide stellar customer service;
  • assist with cash handing processes, and POS programming and maintenance;
  • ensure company food and physical safety programs and standards are followed;
  • assist with retail brand standard audits (in-house and national brands);
  • help maintain integrity of retail branded concept standards (national and in-house brands);
  • assist with managing the opening and closing the operation as well daily retail food service operations;
  • ensure all needed signage (including digital) is in place;
  • maintain vendor relationships and compliance; and/or
  • maintain all product merchandising, marketing and ordering standards are in place

  • demonstrate working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems as well as menu graphics programs;
  • experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment very helpful; and/or
  • exhibit flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Position Summary

Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.Key Duties- Establishes a safe work environment

- Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships,  to ensure account retention

- Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes

- Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met

- Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan

- Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and  regulatory agencies.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experienceBasic Management Experience - 2 years Basic Functional Experience 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
