The Training and Development Coordinator on the Global Commercial Operations Learning and Performance (GCO LP) Operations and Technology Team is responsible for providing administrative support for the training team and supporting training events (e.g., New Hire Training, Leadership Development, Semester Meetings, Global Training) in both virtual and live settings. The coordinator also communicates and collaborates with GCO LP new hire/operations manager, logistics manager, and training associates on training events, training center processes, and systems.

This position is based at Amgen Headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Specific duties while working at the Amgen Commercial Training Center include:
  • Staffing the front reception desk of the Training Center
  • Welcome visitors, answer questions and provide information
  • Answer phone calls (very low volume)
  • Manage training rooms and equipment
  • Create name tents / badges for class attendees
  • Manage badge access for training classes
  • Manage incoming / outgoing shipments
  • Maintain training center supplies and place supply orders (e.g. office supplies and snacks), when needed
  • Submit and track work orders with facilities
  • Training Center morning set up to include snack baskets for classes, coffee in common area, refill paper trays for printers, and restock shipping supplies
  • Coordinate catering for GCO LP on-site training events
  • Maintain Training Center calendar for all GCO LP training programs (e.g. Phase II classes, Leadership Development programs, Marketing classes, role-play rooms, and simulation center)
  • Track volume of programs at the Training Center

Other duties include:
  • Support new hire onboarding, including communications (e.g, letters, emails) and training rosters
  • Assist with training event surveys
  • Creating, editing and revising templates (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Respond to email inquiries

Basic Qualifications

Associate's degree and 2 years of directly related experience in Learning and Development, Event Management/Planning, Business, Pharmaceutical/ Biotechnology Industry experience


2 years in a technical school setting with hands-on experience


High school diploma / GED and 4 years of directly related experience in Learning and Development, Event Management/Planning, Business, Pharmaceutical/ Biotechnology Industry experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years in Learning and Development, Event Management/planning, Business, Pharmaceutical/ Biotechnology Industry
  • Proven ability / experience coordinating small to large training events
  • Experience with managing relationships with competing demands and priorities
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention-to-detail with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work well in teams and interact effectively with various levels of management
  • Willingness to be flexible to meet team goals and priorities
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with databases and business analysis tools (e.g., Degreed, LMS, Tableau) a plus
  • Able to lift 25 lbs.
