**ROLE SUMMARY**



This position is responsible for providing management and oversight for the Comparative Medicine (CM) Global Training program. The CM Global Training program is focused on providing husbandry and technical training to all personnel who use animals in research at all CM sites in the US. The Global Training Manager has the responsibility to lead the CM Training group, to identify training gaps and develop and implement appropriate training programs that satisfy departmental training needs across Pfizer's Comparative Medicine sites. The role will focus primarily on learning technology, project management and learning measurement/metrics. Work will also include conducting needs analyses to develop and implement training and education materials, providing expertise in learning theory, instructional design, and e-Learning technologies.



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Provide oversight for the development, implementation, monitoring, and quality of CM departmental training program.

+ Identify, develop and manage learning technology pilots and projects for CM using appropriate tools (e.g. virtual reality / augmented reality/hands-on).

+ This role will provide creative graphic and design support for various training and communications activities including infographic development, design and formatting of materials, video and podcast creation, presentation design and development, and development of targeted e-learning modules.

+ Direct the CM Global Trainers, who provide "hands on" training in basic study support techniques (dosing, bleeding, anesthesia, etc.) in all laboratory species.

+ Establish and maintain a global network of CM training colleagues as subject matter experts (SMEs) to supplement the CM Global Trainers in filling training needs.

+ Assist with curriculum maintenance and assignment/retirement, completion records and metrics reporting for business lines and training projects.

+ Actively keep informed of internal and external developments in learning technologies, to creatively engage customers using various learning tools and technologies. Continuously monitor and assess the effectiveness of the Global Training Program based on colleague feedback, current regulatory requirements, technological advancements, and evolving research needs.

+ Provide back-up training to sites as needed.

+ Contribute to operational excellence by the collation of metrics showing the efficient delivery of training to colleagues involved in animal care and research.

+ Work closely with CM Animal Welfare and Compliance team to enhance the visibility of our training program, provide guidance as needed, and ensure compliance with all animal welfare regulations.

+ Is accountable for general effective people management and development. Manages the performance of direct reports through goal setting, ongoing assessment and coaching.

+ Up to 40% travel to other Pfizer sites required.

+ Will be required to work under one of the following: the United States Department of Agriculture Animal Welfare Act and associated Regulations and Standards, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, Good Laboratory Practices, and AAALAC accreditation standards.



**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Bachelor's degree is required.

+ AALAS certification at the LATG level is required.

+ In general, a colleague at this level will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a research environment including experience in coordinating and managing educational programs.

+ Experience in the field of laboratory animal science, working in USDA-regulated, AAALAC-accredited animal facilities. Working knowledge of federal laws, regulations, and procedures pertaining to the care and use of research animals, as well as the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals .

+ Experience and proficiency in "hands on" study support procedures with small and large laboratory animal species.

+ Excellent communication and management skills.

+ Managed multiple projects of moderate complexity involving cross functional representatives

+ Background in training/education. Demonstrated knowledge of learning principles, instructional design as well as project management expertise

+ Progressive supervisory/management experience (in a laboratory animal/ pharmaceutical research and design setting preferred).



**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Master's degree preferred.

+ CMAR preferred.

+ Documented success in developing and implementing training programs.

+ Pharmaceutical or other related industry experience, or experience working on research project teams.

+ Strong interpersonal skills as this role with work across disciplines with key partners.

+ Refined customer service skills and high emotional intelligence.



**PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS**



+ For this position you are expected to enter the nonhuman primate areas as part of your job responsibilities. A pre-hire requirement is either providing proof of measles immunity or receiving the measles vaccination before hire.



**NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS**



+ 40% travel to WRDM sites

+ This is an essential personnel role: Essential Personnel are defined as the staff who are required to report to their designated work location, to ensure the operation of essential functions or departments during an emergency, as determined by Pfizer, or when the business has suspended operations. There are some individuals who may be required to perform essential services remotely and those individuals will be identified in advance and notified by their supervisors, but in most cases Essential Personnel are required to be on-site during an emergency or suspension of operations.
