+ Oversee execution of comprehensive early clinical development strategies for Pfizer Boulder -oncology discovery assets. Development spans pre-IND, First in patient through Proof of Concept.

+ Work collaboratively across multiple research units to develop integrated clinical portfolio strategies.

+ Collaborate with key late phase development partners in Pfizer Oncology to align target populations and aggressive Proof of Concept plans, allowing for seamless late phase development.

+ Lead early FIP approaches that allow for rapid dose and combination execution.

+ Work collaboratively with Boulder Research team and multiple research units across Pfizer to drive early Candidate Selection of oncology early pipeline.

+ Resides in Boulder, Colorado and reports to CSO of Boulder research unit.


+ Develop innovative early clinical development plans that drive early decision making based upon objective clinical safety and efficacy response measures.

+ Introduce early plans of development in combination with adjunctive immune-oncology assets.

+ Advise on development concepts in vaccine-based oncology programs.

+ Work collaboratively with Pfizer Oncology to develop expedited Proof of Concept programs that lead to seamless late stage development.

+ Collaborate with external experts to drive innovation in early clinical development plans and translational/precision medicine.

+ Represent Pfizer at critical regulatory interactions.

+ Membership in Technical Review Committee (TRC) to ensure highest level of rigor and scientific integrity of clinical programs and protocols.

+ Work in partnership with Team Leader(s) to ensure delivery of high-quality, cost-effective programs that are delivered on time and within budget, while maintaining the necessary resources needed to deliver the program.

+ Meet regularly with senior leaders, including CSOs on Oncology early development

+ Collaboration with Pfizer External Science and Innovation (ES&I), WRDM and Boulder Research Unit leadership to identify new preclinical or pre-PoC candidates and conduct due diligence as part of integrated assessments.

+ Identify and escalate issues in a timely manner as appropriate.

+ Meet with other Pfizer Oncology and Pfizer senior leaders as requested to keep them fully

+ informed of issues of high priority related to the Boulder Research Unit.

+ Collaborate and partner effectively with the Early Clinical Development unit in the Oncology Research Unit for sharing of best practices across the two units.


+ MD, MD/PhD or equivalent with extensive clinical experience.

+ At least 10 years of oncology development experience within the Biotech or Pharmaceuticals industry, with focus in early development in Oncology.

+ Ability to collaborate across multiple organizations in the pre-PoC discovery environment.

+ Ability to lead in a matrixed team environment.

+ Understanding of the drug development continuum from pre-POC to post-POC and commercialization.

+ Understanding of related disciplines (e.g. biostatistics, regulatory, pre-clinical pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences).

+ Demonstrated scientific productivity (publications, abstracts, etc.).

+ A thorough understanding of Oncology and cancer biology and its relationship to drug development.

+ Experience in functioning effectively as a member of a matrixed/multidisciplinary team.

+ Insight into and understanding of principles related to evaluating business deal structures including commercial collaborations, acquisitions, and divestitures.

+ Demonstrated effectiveness in people management, communication and colleague development

+ Demonstrated effective negotiating, influencing, interpersonal and leadership skills.

+ Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to collaborate effectively both inside and outside the organization.

+ Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
