General Description

The Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for executing and partnering with Blue Star Families in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, compensation, and compliance. The Human Resources Business Partner will work directly with employees and leaders to meet the organizations current and future needs.

*Must reside in San Diego County


Key Job Functions


Employee Relations

  • Conduct employee investigations and offer counsel on next steps in accordance with applicable laws and practices
  • Engage in employee relations counseling
  • Maintain overall employee morale and ethics of the organization
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
  • Provide recommendations and guidance to employees, managers, and leadership to maintain a positive and productive work environment

Training & Development

  • Identify and assess future and current training needs through job analysis, career paths, annual performance appraisals and consultation with employees and leaders
  • Obtain and /or develop effective training materials utilizing a variety of media that aid with development as well as diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Monitor and evaluate training programs effectiveness, success and ROI periodically and report trends
  • Maintain an understanding of current training trends and best practices
  • Train and coach leaders and others involved in employee development efforts
  • Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization
  • Work effectively as a team member with other members of leadership and the HR team

Talent Management & Recruiting

  • Lead the development and execution of diversity and inclusion initiatives for the organization in collaboration with key leaders
  • Oversee the performance appraisal and feedback process
  • Develop and execute a robust onboarding process for new hires and newly promoted talent
  • Design and administer the organizations compensation plan and provide recommendations for compensation decisions that ensure equity and alignment with business goals
  • Utilize best practice recruiting techniques to attract top talent
  • Track recruiting metrics (e.g. time-to-fill and cost-per-hire)
  • Research and choose job advertising options
  • Advise hiring managers on behavioral interviewing techniques
  • Coordinate with the leadership team to forecast future hiring needs
  • Build the organizations professional network and pipeline through relationships with partners, HR professionals, and other organizations
  • Conduct stay/exit interviews and report on major themes and trends to the leadership team
Requirements

Required Experience, Skills, Background

  • You have a bachelor's degree in relevant field with 10+ years of experience as an HR Generalist with proven experience in; employee relations, training and development, talent management, recruiting, and diversity and inclusion
  • You have strong business acumen and communication skills
  • You have HR Expertise
  • You have experience working in a fast-paced virtual environment
  • You have experience in leadership & relationship management
  • You have the ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
  • You have strong writing and record-keeping ability
  • You have strong computer skills
  • You have hands-on experience with Applicant Tracking Systems and HR databases; ADP knowledge is a plus
  • You are knowledgeable in labor legislation and best HR practices
  • You have experience with (phone and in-person) interviews, candidate screening and evaluation
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication and team management skills
  • You have strong decision-making skills
  • Limited travel may be required to attend bi-weekly in-person meetings, training, and events, etc. (subject to current national health requirements)


Desired Experience, Skills & Background

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certifications preferred
  • Familiarity with membership-driven organizations
  • Familiarity with the military community
  • CRM Experience a plus
