The Interior Designer I supports project design teams in all phases of service in the development and communication of design concepts. This role works under the direction of senior designers to assist with the development of design solutions, research, and the creation of aids such as finish boards. Additionally, the Interior Designer I applies established interior design standards and performs routine checking, verification, and research.


  • Design concepts: Partners closely with senior designers and architects to assist in developing three dimensional design concepts from schematic design through construction documentation. Assists senior designers with finish and material research and selections, and applies space planning and test fit planning skills. Coordinates interior material finish selections and edits master specification sections.
  • Documentation: Manages project files and logs. Coordinates drawings with other disciplines and develops construction documents. Prepares design and construction documentation. Assists with the maintenance of resource materials.
  • Client Focus: Incorporates client's vision into design solutions. Participates in client meetings contributing to collaborative and exceptional outcomes.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related discipline

Certifications and/or Licenses: None required.

  • Interest and beginning the process of obtaining Interior Design Certification (NCIDQ)
  • Member of IIDA or ASID
  • Interest in pursuing EDAC certification

Relevant Experience & Training:

  • 1-3 years of relevant interior design project experience in the A & E industry.
  • Healthcare or senior living experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, graphic design, and 3D modeling and visualization software.
  • Must have knowledge base and core understanding of all aspects of the design process.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a professional, creative, open office environment with business casual attire. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours. There are occasions where extra effort will be required to meet project deadlines. Great flexibility in schedule is both required of you and returned to you due to our many project deadlines.
  • Infrequent national travel required.
